Broody Coturnix?
I couple of years ago when i was raising quails, 2 of the females did go broody and they hatched 2 chicks each. It is possible for them to become broody but it is very rare. -
How do you store your eggs while accumulating for incubation?
i store my eggs in a egg crate in a cool dark spot in the house. The egg crate can hold up to 30 eggs which is enough for me. -
Optimal age to process Coturnix ?
I find that i typically processing my quails at 8-10 weeks. Not because they have reached their preimum weight, but i find that i can't afford to feed them for an extra 2 weeks!!!! -

The way i have been providing light to my quails is by using solar garden lights. I put them adjacent to the breeding pens and they provide enough light to keep the quails laying all winter... and they cost nothing to run or maintain and they turn on automatically when the light levels are low. -

Quick!! Help Help Help!!*Update and confusion*
i had an 2 quail eggs crack on day 14. One had a mild crack but the egg shell was indented in a bit. I left the egg alone and the chick hatched unassisted on day 18 and the chick was fine. Those eggs went like that because they have been in the incubator for at least 17 days at the incubation temperature and humidity. The egg does look like that after a while. It just means that your eggs were not fertile to begin with. -

i hatched some quails on tusday and one of the chicks had curled up feet like you described Calgal. I had him in the brooder for 2 days and this morning i noticed that its feet had straightened out by itself. This can rectify itself. -
