Congratulations!
My first time hatching also and it's been so exciting! I've had to really contain that excitement and be patient! But it's been worth it!
I'm actually glad I put the eggs in the incubator. We have one more week to go and she decided to stop sitting. If she was going to keep sitting, I was going to try and sneak the chicks under her.
Hello everyone!
So! This is the first time I've ever incubated eggs and I'm super excited! But I am needing a little bit of advice.
I had a hen decide to go broody, which is why I picked up some eggs. I don't have a separate place for her to go broody, so after the first day of her sitting...
First, thank you for the inciteful discussion in regards to Silkies health and the thought process on the feed.
I just have to say wow. I never realized how much everyone can become so passionate about a topic, it's always appreciated and wonderful to see how much their flocks mean to them...
Thank you. I've been using vitamin wjth an electrolyte on my show girl that came up lame and started sliding down hill fast. This is my first time with silkies and didnt realize how finicky they can be with food and nutrition. I did notice that my show girl had waaay more pep in her step after...
Hi all,
I've been reading up on silkies and their nutrition and trying to find a vitamin mix that I can add to the water that doesn't include electrolytes. Has anyone used this to add into water? I know it's for goats and it says to use an applicator gun, but maybe I could add a little to my...
She's about 3 and a 1/2 to 4 months old. I picked up up in December. She's on uneducated chick feed. When she kept going south I started her on nutri drench and watching how much she eats, which isn't nearly as much as my other hurt chicken which will eat around 4 oz a day.
Thank you. It took me three hours to create a sling that she semi tolerates. It's been tough watching my showgirl go through this. She's such a soft sweet little girl.
Two weeks ago we had an attack on our coup. We lost a frizzle, I have one confined to a sling already, but I'm not sure if this one is related.
I have a showgirl that had started limping on her left about a week and a half a ago. Since she was still moving around and able to go up the ramp to...
Update. Cleaned his wound, turns out it was more superficial than anything else. He still can't stand, but had a lot of strength in his legs and wings. At this time, I have him in a sling to keep Him upright and off his legs. Is there still a possibility of him recovering? At what point would I...
The wound doesn't look too deep. I'd take a photo, but I don't want to get him so excited right now. Yes, have added vitamins to water. I've been adding a few drops of water on his beak, but he still is uninterested himself.
I didn't see any damage on his legs, and have him propped up on a...
Hello all,
My 2 1/2 month old silkie was attacked today around 12 by what I believe to be a cat. There's a gash under his left wing, but nothing else that is visible. I thought for sure he was a goner, but when I came back today he was still alive, twitching and shivering. He still can push...
