I just proceesed part of my second batch of cornish rocks yesterday and ran into something odd. I hope someone can help. Everthing was normal (behavoir, size, internal organs looked good, no fluid in belly) until I went to cut off the thighs. There was layer of thick fluid under the skin on both...
This was my first go at any livestock and all in all I am happy with the result. This is mostly due to the information that I found on this site.
I started with 20 Cornish Rocks and ended with 17 (lost 3) birds between 4.5 & 5.5 Lbs at 8 weeks.
One thing I wanted to share is I made a drill...
Just an update. I ended up losing 2 out of 20 before I was able to process Sunday morning. During the processing I had one more that was sick. As soon as I opened the body cavity the liver slid out and it was at least 4 x's its normal size. The entire cavity was full of a greenish fluid. So I...

Sorry for the delay I have been working a lot.
I move my tractor around in an area behind my garage so I put the controller in the garage an bought a 50' insulated section of fence wire that I run between the tractor and the garage. I only move the tractor enough to get it onto a clean grass so...
I have an 8' x 8' arch tractor and I ran an electric fence line around the bottom about 4"-5" above the ground. It is a bit more money but it lets me sleep better. It definitely worked on our golden retriever. He wont even look at the chickens anymore.
