We are going to be trying to get some RIR this fall/spring. Has anyone found these birds to do better in one set up over the other? I will be slowly reading through this thread just wanting to get working on my run. Is there any difference between these birds and the hatchery ones...
Has anyone done any testing to see what the best food for them is? What I mean is what ratio of say carrot to spinach to strawberry will provide the highest amount of digestible nutrition for chickens. Do breeders compared to layers or chicks need a mealie with different food stuff in them...
French are the least maintenance. I think it goes Satin,English,Giant,French for maintenance involved. I don't really know anything about the non ARBA breeds. My doe likes being held and groomed. My buck tolerates it. I went through a awful stage with him. I got bite three times...
I just got two angoras and am getting another pair in the next few months. I really like them. The french are very easy to care for brush them once a week and that is it.
Hi everyone! I am looking for info on Dominique's,buckeyes and Delawares. I am thinking of ordering some from Meyer hatchery this year. We are redoing the whole chicken setup so not wanting to send the money on high quality birds this year in cause the the local coyote pack comes calling...
I just ordered a yarn winder should be here Wednesday. I am going to wind everything into balls and then put it into labeled small clear totes. I'll post a picture of the disaster when I start sorting everything into color groups. I am scared we might be buried alive in yarn. I am...
Angora should not be carded!! That's why it is a huge pain when you try. If you are blending it then treat it like silk. For 100% just grab it and spin. The fiber off of my guys is plucked and spin right off the rabbit. Or you can shear it most people prefer to blend sheared.
Hi everyone!! I am thinking of doing a career switch from chicken farming to fiber farming. That means I would would raise the animals that provide your fiber. I would sell everything from the animals to spinning stuff to yarn and finished goods. My questions for you guys. Do you buy animal...

I should add that I have been taking all their pets in too. Their dog moved in with us until I found her a new home. I now have their duck and they brought some fish over today. Now their are going to be eaten by my mine but I still got to deal with the oldest with why she can't have her pets...
My good friends opened up and store and I became their babysitter. I now have my two girls(2yrs and 3months old) and their 3 kids 2, 4 and 8. They home school which means I have the 8yr old all day as well. We are homeschooling our girls as well. So I have a 8yr and three preschool...
I am wanting to get a couple of turkeys to be the main course at thanksgiving for next year. However, I do not want to have to build them a house. My chickens will not be using there coop as they will be in the tractors for the summer. I can bleach the coop , however they will be in the...
Thank you! I am hopeing that I can do some this fall. But I have baby number two coming in August. I'm thinking maybe spring will be the better bet. I'm sewing baby bibs as a quick sell about 1 to 2 dollars a piece. Going to stay with baby things for now I think. I may take some drop...
Thanks! I think I'll wash it. Now to decide what to do with it. I'm getting 2lbs white and 1lb each of light brown, dark brown and gray. My friend who has them wanted me to make him things instead of paying for them. I want to see how this year goes first. What do you suggest doing with...
