I apologize for the quality of pics but you should be able to see the black on the top of their heads and the comparison between paint and these little ones.
Edited to add pics. I probably need to take a picture but I just hatched some silkie chicks and I ended up with 3 that I thought were buff but now that they are dry, they are very light, almost as light as the white chicks but with a buff tint. The odd thing is they have 1 or 2 black spots on...
I've looked on the internet including Amazon and eBay and can only find one person on eBay that sells them and his history is not great and I would like to have one by next weekend if possible. Does anyone know where else I can get one or one that is just as good?
I will remember that next time AmyLynn. They took a long time to fluff, especially since the humidity shot way up while hatching.
Out of curiosity, do any of you let your hens hatch eggs? I have a white silkie and a Salmon Faverolle sitting on silkie eggs because my incubator was full...
I agree, lockdown is torture. I never saw wobbling and was freaked out but mine have done great and I think it went pretty well considering I set them for almost 11 days but I followed all of the directions I found and it worked. Proud mommy here.
Now I have to go work on Egbert, he still has...
Mine are silkies too and since this is my first time I can only tell what mine did. I had no movement at all, no wobbles or anything during lockdown until they pipped externally. I thought for sure all of mine were lost because I read about wobbling but I took pics and there was nothing...
I keep thinking I am finished but I just candled the last 4 eggs and one is alive. Should I do anything? I am horrified that he could still be moving in there and not make it.
Ok, I was scared he would get sick from getting wet again so I was waiting. Will try a warm sponge bath. Thank you again AmyLynn, you have been a huge help.
Ok thanks. Little Egbert has been out of his egg almost 24 hours but he is the only one not fluffy, he looks kind of matted so maybe he had membrane dry on him. Should I leave him in the incubator longer?
I have 12 of 16 that have hatched. The last 4 are fully formed chicks, appear to be anyway, but nothing is happening. How long should I leave them in to be sure they aren't going to hatch?
On another note, we removed the eggshell from the little ones rear with lots of warm water. It was...
Next question, I have one little one hatched this morning that has egg shell attached to his rear. He is still somewhat damp so should I leave it alone?
So far 11 have hatched and one more zipping its way out so that leaves 4 that I am not sure about.
