Thanks for the info! Juliette's Daddy was a handraised guy...he became very territorial and would attack anyone that came within feet of him during the second year of his life. My kids are older teenagers and were scared to death of him. They told me that because I gave him a gender specific... -

My husband and I disagree on the sex of this young one. I say it is a hen, he thinks cock. Junior is 11 months old. I have also attached a picture of her/his mother and Father. I would appreciate breed type identification as well. Junior is a mix! -

All seems good today! I separated the two hens/chicks and late last night I returned the chick to the hen. She gave it one peck to the back and I shoved it under her with the other 12. I checked this morning and everything was going good. I did have to unstick it's little eyelid this morning but...- Allietag

Being a "mother" hen is hard work!!
I have had chickens for many years but usually don't have more than one hatching of chicks at a time...until now... I have one hen that hatched 13 chicks and the other hatched 4. Advice needed immediately please!
So glad I read this post. I have a new hatchling that had issues getting out of the egg and has a tear similar to yours. I read this and ran out and put some Bacatracin on it. It's up on its feet and I am feeling hopeful.- Allietag
