    Lemon Cuckoo Orpington Questions!

We bought a trio of Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons this Spring, at about eight weeks old - one rooster and two pullets. The breeder we got them from had several other adult Lemons in his garden and they were stunning. However the trio we bought he hatched from eggs shipped from a breeder in the UK...

    November Hatch-A-Long (2014)

@junibutt, We had a big fat zero hatch rate :-/ Disappointing! We're planning on getting hold of some fertile eggs in the Spring so won't be hatching again until then.

    November Hatch-A-Long (2014)

We have two eggs in our incubator and six (and counting) under a broody. They're all eggs from our own flock, the roosters an orp, not sure which hen is laying the eggs but it's most likely either one of the orpingtons or the cuckoo maran (who's the broody sat on them). We're planning to candle...

    Silkie - hen or roo?

Oh that's good to know :) We have two other roosters, both Orpingtons and they're really sweet. As long as this guy stays nice then I don't mind having a third one. We only have a dozen hens though, and I keep hearing about needing at least eight hens to a rooster - what's peoples opinions...

    Silkie - hen or roo?

Thanks for your replies, we've checked and he has spurs. So Heather is becoming Hiccup!!! He's really sweet and friendly right now, I hope he stays that way - what are Silkie roosters normally like in terms of personality? Btw Cluckywucky, they look like girls to me (but to be honest, I don't...

    Silkie - hen or roo?

Okay so this is our first Silkie & we're not totally sure if she's a hen or roo, especially as she must be at least six months now & we've had no eggs!! When we got her two months ago we were told she was a hen but I know with Silkies it can be hard to tell. What do you think? :)

    Tail feather question

Okay, I will try and post a picture later. We're going to the farm supply store this afternoon, is there any harm treating her for lice even if she doesn't have them?

    Photos of our new Chickens!

So yesterday we got five new additions to our ever growing flock! The story is we had two Lavender Orpington chicks; we hatched both of them in our incubator, called Clover and Peppa.(Clover has now turned into Captain as we've decided he's a cock). Sadly last week Peppa got pneumonia and...

    Tail feather question

Thanks for the replies. I've checked her vent and it appears to be normal. She has little while dots on her feathers - would this be mites/lice or something like that? She isn't molting. We only got her yesterday and I'm not sure what exactly where she was kept/how many chickens were in with...

    Tail feather question

We've got a new black australop pullet and she doesn't seem to have any feathers where her tail should be and it looks red. I've attached a picture. Other than that she seems to be healthy and has a very good appetite. Any advice on what we should do about it? Thanks in advance!

    when can chicks live outside?

My sister has lavender orpington chicks (who are currently 5 weeks) and they go outside in the garden for short periods on sunny days but they still aren't fully feathered yet so still to young to go outside at night - they'll move out when they're fully feathered which will probably be by the...

    Hello

Hi there! I'm Anna and I have got eight chickens at the moment, five hens and three chicks. The hens are a mix of breeds and are almost four years old now. The chicks are lemon cuckoo orpingtons and there is one cock and two hens. We've only had the chicks three days and they're about 9 weeks...
