    Silly question... Ducks kill mice?

My two Drakes have killed a 3 foot water snake, so a mouse is no challenge.

Are your ducks enjoying the first snow?

Mine loved it yesterday. They swam in the pond most of the morning. Around 3 PM I went outside to check on them, they were not around, I then checked their night pen, and they had crawled into their Duck House, so I called it a day early and locked them in.

    Keeping Ducks Penned

Somebody will be cleaning their pen, but I am afraid if they let them out, they will not come back to their pen for a stranger. Seems like they will be a little angry but will be fine.

    Keeping Ducks Penned

During the day my Ducks Free Range and swim in our pond all day. In the evening I head to the pond and march them home. We are going on vacation in a few weeks and my original plan was to keep them in their pen and have someone come by to make sure they have water and food. My wife thinks...

    Ducks and dogs

It all depends on the dog, but if done properly you should be fine. I have three Boston Terriers, clearly not hunting dogs, and my ducks play along with them and in fact the dogs do not pay them any mind anymore, except when they are in their night pen, then the dogs want them out.

how do you lead a duck to water?

Be patient with them, they will figure it out. My two boys did not like the pond at first, but we kept trying and trying, and now they run to the pond in the morning when we let them out of their nighttime pen. They have been doing this for over a week now, they are just now 4 months old. The...

    Thank God for Randy Ducks!!!!

Been trying very unsuccessfully to get my two 4 month old Swedish and Cayuga Drakes to swim in my pond in my yard. This a 1/4 acre pond that is about 6 feet deep in the center. After weeks of struggling and on the verge of living with Land Ducks, the boys felt a stirring in their loins. On...

I serioulsy need some help with this one!!

I am new to ducks this year and have two males, a Cayuga and a Swedish. We have just handled them a lot and fed them lots of peas by hand. They are still skittish when I am around them, they are terrified of my wife, but they let my daughter pick them up and pet them. Since the ducks are...

    Ducks Don't Like The Pond

A Cayuga and Swedish duck about 9 weeks old. I have a 1/4 acre pond on my property, when I let them go in for a swim, they immediately turn around and leave the pond, preferring to stay in their kennel. Any ideas on getting them to stay in the pond and not be afraid?

    Blue Cayuga Question

From what I understand the Cayuga is a slower maturing bird than other Ducks. I have a Cayuga and a Swedish that I got together, they are now 8 weeks old and the Swedish is full grown and bigger than the Cayuga by a lot.

    trembling legs?

My Cayuga was doing the same thing. Started supplementing Brewer's Yeast and it has stopped. Probably just growing too fast for his legs.

    First Swim In Big Pond

Quote: I got this at Doghouses.com, but it is the same one that they sell at Petco, and cheaper. This one is a medium since I only have two ducks, I would say the large would certainly hold 5, this one would be tight to get 5 in. Actually the drape you see serves no purpose for the ducks...
