My kids love Phineus and Ferb! My son loves Star Wars also, so his ducks are Darth Vader,Padme, and Leia.

The first thing I thought when I saw the names were, you must have small children.

I was going to get that house for my ducks too! It was considered a Rabbit house where I saw it but it was a really good price. It had a wire door though, and the cage stood on legs. Did you alter it to be this way? It looks great the way you did it. I wondered what it would look like after the changes. I also have that pool! Now if my ducks would just use it!

I live of of a big pond/small lake and want to let them swim but Im so scared they wont come back! There are houses around my pond and I dont want them to wander off in their yard. Its a hike around the pond to bring them back. Im nervous about this but still want to try it. Should I hold off until after they get used to their new duck coop so they know where to come back to?

That's a good idea. When I got my first batch of adult ducks, I left them in the pen for 2 weeks so they would associate the pen with safety and food.

I got that house at DogHouses.com and it was free shipping and only $80. I did not have to modify the house at all, it works really well for them. The pool is from PetSmart for $8. The rubber mat came from the feed store, it makes it real easy to clean up.

I had to cut some of the chain link fencing and the house is on the outside. I used Pipe Insulation to hide the cut wire since I hit my head when I cleaned the house out so I needed to do this.

The dog kennel I bought on EBay for $75.00. My wife of course is laughing as she keeps a running tab on what it will cost me for two ducks who collectively cost less than $10!

You have lovely ducks. Did you get the duckhouse in the pen from PetCo? It looks like the one I saw on-line. Looks like you have a vinyl drape that is rolled up over the entry, but what exactly is it? Can you tell me if it is big enough for 5 mallards? We are working on building a permanent duck house, but if we can just buy one , that will save my husband a lot of work. Right now, our ducks are using a topper as their night house. Thanks.

I got this at Doghouses.com, but it is the same one that they sell at Petco, and cheaper. This one is a medium since I only have two ducks, I would say the large would certainly hold 5, this one would be tight to get 5 in.

Actually the drape you see serves no purpose for the ducks, the house is on the outside of the kennel, I cut the fence at the doghouse opening. The black thing you see is just foam pipe insulation. When I crawl into the house to clean it, the foam keeps me from jabbing into the 'cut' wire from the fence.
