    whipworms!

I dealt with a problem for over a year...researched on here and tried everything. It would all start to work but the problem would come back. After several vets prescribing treatments for 14 days and even an x-ray, I finally found a farm vet and he did a FECAL CHECK and said treating whipworm...

    Medicated or non medicated?

My game hen hatched chicks now in the winter. (The poppa is a small bantam size black and brown chicken with feathers all the way down over his feet) She hatched six and they all have feathers on their feet but no blue-green feet like their momma. They are 4 weeks old today and have been inside...

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

So - the evening of the last post - I gave her some epsom salt mixture orally and an epsom salt enima and an epsom salt bath. She has been eating and eliminating since then, but still a very slow process and small amounts. I did some oil of oregano and massaging on the crop as well - 3x in one...

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

UPDATE: I did give her water every few hours before I left on thursday. Her crop was really full like nothing was going through; I still did the water but a crop bound pill too. With her not eliminating much, that may be more of the reason she's not eating or drinking so much - she's processing...

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

I gave her 4 tubes of water at 4:30 - her crop is very full now - she also ate almost 2 scrambled eggs. Almost six hours later her crop is full and she hasn't gone to the bathroom. Is this impacted crop?

Opossum Attack - had chicken by the head! Let her be or examine and treat?

So how is she doing? Hoping for good results. Your husband should post ideas for how to bait and kill and not let it get to th e chickens? Mine is still scared of everything and mostly blind in the one eye, but she's alive and gaining weight. Not laying yet though and her sister is.

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

Kathy - would you prefer I private message you? So she slept inside last night. Stinky. I left water but not food overnight. She did not drink. Her crop feels very full but soft. There was lots of poo - diarrhea dark almost black, not the bile looking green? She does not smell as bad this...

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

Baytril and flagyl for 7 days and then amoxicillan for 7 days. She definitely seems better, but that could just be because of removing the fluid Saturday before last? She's been messy and smelly and that's why I've given her baths, but it's not getting any better...or worse? The smell seems so...

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

Keeping her inside tonight because still no mass in bedding in the morning. She got out of the coop before I got out there and her crop had just a little in it. I just didn't see where she was eliminating. She smells something awful and she had her second bath just the other day - it's a weird...

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

Snow White is eating some baby cereal w/B12 and molasses in it, on her own - and that is pretty watery. Perhaps I should do pedialyte, too? We did it Saturday in syringes myself without tubes, neither of us liked that experience. The next day, Sunday, she ate it on her own. Today the vet has...

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

I can't find feeding tubes anywhere here. They only have them for cows and horses. This is real farm country and they don't go to this kind of trouble for chickens. Got any ideas? And no avian vets here either.

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

RE: Snow White - hen with swollen belly. NO, the vet did a fecal eval but did not test the fluid. It was day 8 when I took her to the vet and I did not treat her with the baytril that day - so she had 7 days of baytril and flagyl and now doing the 7 days of amoxicillin. She is losing fluid now -...

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

I've heard that tube feeding is really hard and that if you don't know what you're doing you can cause more damage. Got any links for tube feeding? Or good written instructions anywhere? Do you think amoxicillin is the best treatment for this? He said baytril is used in humans for major...

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

No food in her crop this morning so she must be eating a little and not bound up or sour. Yeah! Day #4 of 7 for the amoxicillian so praying for a good outcome. I know she loves that fluid being off of her belly! The vet said he treated a llama for peritonitis with amoxicillian and he was...

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

What happened with the one you're referencing with the same kind of fluid? Is that the one that you did the baytril and flagyl? Did you save her? I'm so scared that the other two aren't laying either. I did that grower feed when they had the cocci problem - bad advice!!! Why won't she eat now...

HELP! Second hen to get bloating/green feces, emaciated breast

On day 8 - this past Saturday she did not seem like she was doing any better, so I took her to the vet and he drew so much fluid out of her and it was yellow. He gave me amoxicillian to give her for 7 days. She is clear of e coli or any other issues per the fecal exam. The vet is not a chicken...
