So - the evening of the last post - I gave her some epsom salt mixture orally and an epsom salt enima and an epsom salt bath. She has been eating and eliminating since then, but still a very slow process and small amounts. I did some oil of oregano and massaging on the crop as well - 3x in one day - the following day. Today is beginning the 3rd day since that began and she seems to be doing a lot better. I think she had bowel blockage and couldn't eliminate because she seems much better since she started pooping again. Glad I didn't tube feed her. The epsom salt gets the water to the digestive track faster than me shoving water down her throat, but that probably kept her going.
She still goes to sleep with a full crop and it doesn't seem to eliminate overnight very much. Poops is still mostly green/bile.
Her left side underneath is very hard - I think that is where her liver or bowels are? I hold that spot to apply heat and I feel it move around and gurgle so it may be bowels, I don't know but I think this is the area of the problem. Any ideas? Left side, underneath, right next to leg.
The peritonitis problem and fluid seem to be gone. I guess this is from antibiotics (baytril, flagyl, and then amoxicilin) blocking her up?
Otherwise she is happy and scratching around and competing for food over the other chickens. Still have some work to do - gotta get that crop working and that hard spot softened - any ideas?
Thanks!
