All of a sudden I have a broody hen! Morning, noon and night I take her out of a nesting box and take her outside and she seems fine, just like the rest of the hens. She doesn't object to me taking her out so guess I'll have to wait to see how long this lasts. Been going on for several days now

I don't think it was me. But last spring I did purchase two Americanas that we're supposed to lay blue eggs and they do, but damn few. And these are pure bred Americanas, I know, because I had a fill out of form with my address to even buy them. I'd trade them for 2 australorps in a heartbeat

They always have been. So you guys with the coon problems, is this only at night? I would think during the day the chickens could outrun them if they were out of the coop/run. The coons got 15 chickens?

It'll be here soon enough, looks like a couple days away. Hope my chickens like it. In march/april and beginning of may my 11 hens were laying 7-10 eggs a day. Last week when it got colder 4-7 and the same so far this week. I did change out the bedding in the coop and till the run so everything...

Sorry to hear TOR. Can't believe you can't coax them back in with treats of some sort. I had an escape the other day. I left the gate unlatched after tilling the run, went to get plants from the Amish greenhouse and got home to see them scratching in the mulch. Cooper has full permission to...

That looks really nice! But my chickens would destroy that sod in days. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one busy around here. Spring does that a person.

I'm feeling pretty lucky here, maybe 1"-2" and was gone right away. I'ts still March and as you all know we have had some good snow storms in April. Starting to dry up out back. On another note, yesterday morning 7 toms fanned out up by the woods trying to impress a few hens. 🙂

I can't imagine how much it costs Per dozen eggs But I decided that I'd charge $3.00 a dozen. I buy farm & fleet crumbles and I also buy my local mills layer feed, that they make/grind that's just up the road from me and my chickens prefer that 3 to 1, and it's $10 for 50 pounds. i've been...
