Broody hen help?!

i'm First, candle those eggs she sat on for three days, they may not be fit to eat. Or at least break them into a bowl before putting them in a skillet or cake mix! :sick
I'm asking out of ignorant bliss, does candling show if eggs are bad or not? The poster did mention there was no rooster in the flock, so does candling show more than a developing chick? I'm not sure if the edited the post or not to include the rooster part. It'd be helpful, as I do bake cake sheets and sometimes I skip the one by one egg in a separate bowl check!

I must have missed the part about there being no rooster, sorry, my bad. Yeah, that was my concern, that after three days they might start developing veins. But of course that wouldn't happen with no rooster. Still, three days in high heat ... I'd still probably break into a bowl just to be sure they weren't starting to break down in any way. But that's just me. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I've had a broody hen for a while now. So I'm using aarts idea right now. This is her 2nd day in the crate with his food and water set up. I'll let you know how it ends up.
How did it go? We ended up blocking off the nesting box for 3 days, the other girls just laid eggs in the corner, and I’m hopeful it worked! She hasn’t been continuously in there since and we got an egg from her the other day. I’ll have to get a small crate to keep on hand incase it happens again! Good luck to you!

Well, after 2 days in the crate, I took her back out. And let her mingle with the flock, and she still sat on the nest for a day or 2, but then she quit and since then, I've gotten maybe 1 extra egg a day. But now they're molting, and I'm getting less, so I'd say this was probably successful. The waterer worked fine, but the feeder using that waterer as a feeder didn't work at all.
