One chicken only, Cecilia, continues to lay soft-shelled eggs which usually crack on contact with the shavings in the box. We do feed oyster shells and layer feed. I actually witnessed the laying, dropped into the box, I turned it over, broken. Help?
We have run out of Oyster shells:( for a week or so, and the last egg was paper thin. Snowing in Maine and won't get to the feed store till Monday, what is a good substitute for calcium when the snow is falling and we are stuck at home?
I got 6 Aracaunas, one is yellow, now white and about four times larger than the rest of brownish ones. I told my feed store where I got them and they think I got a "broiler" mixed in by mistake. It looks like a rooster and ALL it does is lie there and eat. IT LOOKS TO WEIGH 4 LBS OR SO...
So, how soon can they have yogurt and how much? My EE's are three weeks old, have introduced meal worms, but that's all. Would love to add other treats? How soon and what? Yogurt?
When do I switch from the starter food? And what treats can I introduce besides meal worms and at what age.? ^ chicks, three weeks... What happens next? New to chickens!
I think one of my six chicks is a rooster, and everyone is giving me advice. We have been calling her large Magre causeshe is huge and now I see signs of rooster-dom!
What difference does it make with the eggs? Are you best to keep it or do I want just layers? This is my first time, getting...
Like I pick them up in my hand one at a time and hold them still in hand? Pet them? Talk as well? What happens when they start to flutter? Put down or hold gentlY
