Her crop is normal this morning. Shes drinking water on her own instead of my having to bring it to her face. She still doesnt seem that interested in food but shes walking around instead of standing in one place and shes way more alert.:D
She wont eat anything solid. I got her to eat plain yogurt and water. After eating some yogurt she momentarily did a little grooming. Her poop is mostly water and white stuff now but it doesnt smell normal it smells bad.
Her comb and face are red and look normal. As for laying i have 12 laying hens and ive only gotten 10 eggs today. Most of them are 2 years old, half are almost three so they lay on and off
This morning one of my hens, Chomper, wasnt racing to eat food with the rest. She wasnt interested at all. Her crop isnt swollen per say but it wasnt all the way down from not eating all night. I presented her with some grit in my hand which she ate. I went to get water but she seemed...
Yes i have two other roosters. If there is a dominance problem its probably my rooster haru thats eating all the food. Hes fat lol. I just read that they could have worms if they suddenly lose weight so i hope he gains weight and nothing is wrong with him.
One of my roosters has been losing weight and im noy sure why. He acts completely normal and hes energetic as well and will scarf down any food in cite if i give it to him. Perhaps the rest of the flock isnt letting him eat enough? Im giving him extra grower food right now and some bread and...
One of my hens has been sitting on a clutch of eggs for almost 3 weeks now. Theyre due to hatch on the 20th-23rd. Today theres been an accident. A few hens got into her nest and knocked down the eggs. One is cracked but it didnt crack open. I have confirmed rhat the baby in this egg is still...
I noticed one of my hens, Screamer, slightly limping yesterday. But today it's gotten worse. Even when she runs she's now hopping or galloping. I can't see anything wrong with her leg or any wounds on the bottom of her foot but she's avoiding putting any pressure on it. I don't know what to do.
My one year old golden buff hen has been over mated by our blue cochin rooster and her wing is now raw and bleeding. I am not sure if I should wash it or if I should just put some vaseline on it. She has also started multing. I'm not sure if she will grow back these feathers this time around though.
Does anyone know about this hybrid? my mom brought 6 of them home as day old chicks around august. I cant really find much about them. We aren't planning to eat them. I have a blue cochin rooster and since these chicks weren't sexed i was looking out for signs that said rooster but saw none...
Update: her eye is open this morning. Nothing seems to be wrong with it. No watering, no nothing. There's no sneezing or coughing like I read. No fatigue. Perhaps something simply got in there. I know meat birds won't live long, but they're really sweet and follow me around like I'm a mama hen...
Ya I know they aren't bred to live long, that's what I told my mother but she brought them home anyway. I wanted some buff brahmas... They aren't with my other flock yet, we haven't introduced them.
I have 2 white Cochin hens, a blue Cochin rooster, I have a golden buff hen and 5 Rhode Island and New Hampshire red hen mixes. I have recently acquired some white chicks with random black feathers here and there that were bred for Tyson and would have been killed because of these black feathers :0
