    Poop Tray

Currently have poop board under roost. The roost bar is a 2x4 spanning width of coop. We have two large pans on poop board but hens keep jumping on the pan and walking in poop and spreading it everywhere in coop. Any ideas on how to prevent them from doing this? Pans are about 10 inches below...

    Grit/Oyster Shells

What is everyone's thoughts on mixing grit and oyster shells? We have a 4ft x 4ft coop and currently have a large feeder for layer feed and two smaller feeders for oyster shells and grit. So crammed with all three feeders and waterer. Trying to free up some space.

What did you do for a roost in your coop? We built same coop and currently have a ladder roost but seems kind of crammed with the ladder roost, feeder and waterer.

    Nest Box

Installed perch yesterday. It seems to have made it easier for hens to get to nest boxes. Matter of fact one layer an egg in one. After she scratched out all the pine shavings. Then another played on the floor later in afternoon. Was glad to have one egg in nest boxes.

    Nest Box

I added a strip of plywood to make the lip about 2 1/2 inches which reduced the opening. I feel that adding any more of a lip will really deter and make it nearly impossible for them to get in. The two hens who are laying both are laying in the same corner on the floor. Was talking to someone...

    Nest Box

The nest boxes are about 2 1/2 feet off the floor of the coop. We have normal chickens a buff, sex link, silver laced and an ameracauna. The lip is only a 1.4 inch thick, piece of plywood, nest box openings with lip are about 10 inches. The reason why I am asking about a perch is because two of...

I was thinking of putting it close to them but just enough for them to jump into nest boxes but yet not comfortable enough to roost on.

    Nest Box

What are everyone's thoughts on a perch in front of nest boxes for hens to jump onto to get into nest boxes? Don't have room for a ramp which would be more ideal.

Anyone with a 4ftx4ft coop have any pictures of their roost so we can get an idea on how to improve ours? Also what are peoples opinions on poop boards?

Got home from work tonight, went to see if there was any eggs. There was one egg, not in the nest boxes though on the floor still. Last night I tried leaving an egg in each nest box and one of the hens kicked all 3 out along with the pine shavings. I am at a loss for what to do. Seems like we...

The first two eggs were outside in the run, the next 8 she has layed in the coop on the floor. We started out using pine shavings in the nest boxes, that...
