    Pet/Friendly Rouen Duck Pair

Located in Mansfield, Texas These have been our "pet" ducks. They live in our pond and are locked up from predators at night. They are even trained to come when called! They are flightless and need a safe yard with a pond or kiddie pool to play in. The hen lays a nice big duck egg for us daily...

    Left only feathers and intestines

Feed store suggested can cat food, so that's what we've used.

    Left only feathers and intestines

I didn't consider that! But they were completely dry. Very good clue that I missed! Maybe hawk or owl?

    Left only feathers and intestines

Thank you. I'm determined to put an end to this. We've set large and small traps many times, but caught nothing. It would help if we knew what we were up against. I'm both kicking myself for missing this chicken at lock up and incredibly frustrated with this predator.

    Left only feathers and intestines

Every year we are visited by a predator. It's that season and the thing is back! I live in north central Texas. I've only ever seen: raccoon, possum, coyote, skunk and my neighbor's cat (but she's never threatened the chickens). Occasionally we have a naughty hen that will find a place to...

Still looking for a good home for these fellas! I'll include a (non-related) laying hen each if that helps (but please, honest inquiries only... do not accept offer and discard the rooster just to get the free hen). Thank you!

    Cornish rocks and white leghorns

I would say white rock. I believe ypu can breed a Cornish to the white rock to get some really nice meat chickens too. Great deal on the purchase!

    Cornish rocks and white leghorns

I don't want to bore you with any more of my pictures haha... I was browsing through them and it looks like ours got the "red face" that Cornish rock get around 7weeks. I am not familiar with white rock, so I am not much help there.

    Cornish rocks and white leghorns

Yes. I agree that they are too big to be white leghorn. We raise those too and they stay small and skinny a lot longer - very slow growers. Our Cornish rock usually finish off 5-8 lbs depending on male or female. There are many times we doubt their size and they end up surprising us. That...

    Friendly Trained Roosters DFW area

Here's a video of them coming when called. The Leghorn is always first there lol. It is hard to part with them. We've worked with them and trained them since day one. We are hoping they go to a home that will appreciate that!

    Friendly Trained Roosters DFW area

Very friendly to humans and trained to come when called! They are good at keeping the flock together and alerting them of danger. We are parting with them because they have fathered many of our hens that we have now. The White Leghorn is about 1 year old and the Cuckoo Maran is 7 months old (and...

What's the gender of my silkies?

White one looks like a pullet. It's hard to tell in the other pictures. Silkies go through an awkward phase with their poof lol... maybe a week or / more it will be more obvious.

    Sexing White Leghorns

I looks like a pullet to me. Only because our white leghorn roosters seemed to grow waddles and combs longer and faster. Here's a longhorn gen in front and roo in back. The hen still has a red comb larger than other breeds.

What breed are my new chicks

They look like barred rock. The one in the middle may be a roo.

    Cornish rocks and white leghorns

The cornish rock grow very fast and the white leghorn seem to develop combs quicker. We had a hard time telling the hens from Roos. I do see a couple cornish rock in there based off their double breast. These are all Cornish (straight run) at 6-7 weeks

4 month old silver lace Cochin roo or hen?

It stands really tall. I think it is a rooster. All of our Cochin hens look squatty.

I have been reading about them and sexing them seems near impossible. Does anyone have any tips?? I know when i sex our chicks, right off the bat...
