my chickens have all come down with coughs! They are also sneezing and having trouble breathing. This happened yesterday, and I have already lost 10!! :( they are dying off SO fast!!!! What can I do to save the rest that I have???
Yes, it's all of them, even the roo. I can not get a picture on how skinny they are, it doesn't show. But you can feel every bone under them. They are all running around eating and drinking and being happy.
I have all different kinds. Black austroplorp, Cochin, Polish, Rhode Island Red, barred rock, Americana, and frizzle. They range in age from 1 yr- 5yrs
My coop gets super nasty real quick. I have tried pine shavings, hay, and sand. None seem to work well at all. The flooring is plywood. Should I remove it and let the coop have a dirt floor mixed with sand? What works best for y'all??
I need help...I am feeding my chickens 20% layer pellets, and they free range. They eat so much, but are losing weight. :/ is there something else I'm supposed to feed them, or can I add something to their feed?? I really want my chickens fat and healthy.
So, a lot of my chickens are very pale. It has been very hot the past week. (101.F) sometimes hotter. They have lots of shade and cool water. Is there anything I can do to make them pink/red again??? Also, I have a rooster who is wheezing. Sounds more like gargling...there is no discharge from...
Thank you for th responses. I have not added any new animals or chickens to the flock. She is almost a year old. No rattling or wheezing sounds. I listened to her chest and hear nothing in there. She seems to be breathing normally. No signs of distress. There is one spot that is larger than the...
So, I went out to check on my chickens this morning and noticed the smallest one was in the nesting box not acting right. I grabbed her and noticed the whole left side of her face, mouth, and eye is swollen!!!! It's so bad that she can not close her mouth and the swelling is almost closing her...
Hi, so I'm pretty sure my goslings have upper respiratory infections. They are very drowsy and are having difficulty breathing, they keep sneezing and flinging snot and spit everywhere too. They don't want to eat or drink, just sleep. Idk what to do for them. I tried giving some treated water...
That could be the issue, as she only eats grass and any scratch I throw out for the chickens. Her main diet is grass.....and, her eye got plucked out when she was younger by a gander I had. He was too rough with the little girls.
She is kept in a pen with flat dirt ground. So, I don't know how she could have injured it. She was fine this morning, went out and layed down, and stayed there. It looks like both are hurting her, but her left side seems worse. She still wants to eat, I bring her grass and she gets excited.
Ok, so I have a young goose who is not wanting to stand or walk around, when I do get her to stand....well, she limps real bad and falls then stays put. All her buddies got eatin by a bob cat or a fox, could she be getting sick or dying from sadness/depression??? I love her and really want her...
Thank you everyone! The apple cider vinegar seems to be helping a bit. I de wormed her two weeks ago, so I don't think it's worms. Does anyone know what I can do to help her put on some weight?
Hi, I have a silkie hen who is a little over a year old. She is very active, eats, talks to me, etc. But...she keeps opening her mouth and shaking her head at the same time. I feel her crop everyday and it always feels empty, which is weird because she eats...she is pretty thin and does not lay...
