    cedar sawdust.... is it safe?

I would discourage the use of cedar shavings. Could cause respiratory and/or digestive distress.

Maybe she pulled a fast escape? It's Really nice when a hen stands out amongst the others. I had a barred rock named Jujah who was quite friendly. She hung around a lot, liked helping me work on the equipment.

I saw a hen choke and regurgitate a piece of glass in an old chicken yard. Careful where you keep your ladies. :D

    Bees, so many bees!

Don't treat the buildings/bees with a pesticide. Poor things got it pretty tough already. Talk to your neighbor. If that doesn't work call your co-op entomologist and the DNR. Maybe they can talk some sense into your neighbor.

    Best age to process Roos

Our Buff Orps brooded 13 chicks this season. Early summer was cool and we had 9 Roos hatch out. They're 5 months old and we processed 4 the other day. We made soup from one of them and it was just a little to "cocky" tasting for me. When's a good age to process Roos for optimal taste and texture? :D
