Thanks for the info Eggcessive. I somehow think my vet won't stock these, they always seem to have a very limited budget to stock most things. Mainly 'cos they don't stock anything for chooks. I have had a dog antiinflammatory before for my girls. I will give it a go. Thanks again.
One of my girlies was diagnosed by a vet, some time ago now, with arthritis. She, Dusty, is now about 8 yrs old and she doesn't do much. She is happy sitting down, her legs obviously give her pain I think. However, she does have a mooch around sometimes. She eats and drinks ok. I wondered...
Love this post, my ladies are older and I really thought I would never get another egg. Now I can't wait. They are in moult right now so now I know I have some eggs to look forward to.
You are so right Weeg! After a vet visit and a vet phone consut, I've learnt a lot ! So thought I'd share. They are in fact LIPOMAS . I accidentally found a home treatment. Starting at the beginning....I now only have two elderly ladies and am treating one of them for her painful feet and...
Thank you, I would normally, but she is quite old, and super fit in all other respects, and and to put her under an anaesthetic would be the death of her, so am not prepared, yet, to go down this route. Thanks for your advice though.
What can we do peoples? I am hoping to be able to upload some photos, but in the meantime; My beautiful gold and brown Orpington cross has got what look like cysts. There are multiple lumps in a sac either side of her keel bone. One sac, each side, containing different size lumps. She has...
With my daughter to help, I managed to excise the skin of one of one of Aurelias lumps, it wasn't filled with that awful 'cheesy' mess like I hsve experienced before. It seemed like a lump of grisle. So washed with saline, put Savlon on, that's all I had, and let her lose. She is fine, will...
Thank you so much Azygous. :D The only problem is the two 'sacs' of little ones! They are like peas! I suppose the best thing to do is to leave them to get a little bigger? Good hint with the epsom salts, I always have some handy. Thanks again.
Hi everyone. Must really apologise for not coming on here for so long, but I suppose things must have been running quite smoothly. Going to have a catch up with the lastest threads in a bit.
I need to ask you lovely people if you have experienced things like 'feather cyst' in your chickens...
Thanks for your prompt reply WyopRock. My chooks are confined to their smallish run which houses the coop. I leave the coop doors open during the day too, so it's not a ventilation problem and the ventilation is good through the night time too. There is no coughing, sneezing or wheesing, nose...
I have a 9 month old hen (amongst 2 oldies and 2 sisters) and she seems to have a sore throat. They are all at present confined to their run because of H5N8 virus which apparently is spreading from Europe (we live in the U.K.) The other hens are fine (at the moment!) Dusty has just started...
