I would use a nylon stocking. Put the Sevin dust in it and gently put it under the wings and back of the hen. I would also think that you could put it around the eggs. The advantage of the stocking is that it spreads it evenly just by barely dabbing the surface.
I am so sorry to hear that all the chicks died. There are many reasons why they didn't hatch so I wouldn't want to speculate as to what happened. Maybe someone else here with more experience with pheasants can help. I've only hatched pheasants once and I guess I got lucky. I used the Little...
I am so happy to hear that your pheasants are hatching! I just set 17 Red Goldens on May 1st. I hatched the daddy, Ceasar, on May 18, 2012 so i don't know if he is old enough yet but he sure is gorgeous.
Meet Igor!
This my first gosling hatch. I don't know what kind it is supposed to be. Someone gave the eggs to my husband. They don't know what they have. Is it an 'African' goose?
I like the idea of the stuffed animal and mirror. I do work at home so the little guy won't really ever be alone. One of my dogs also loves to 'baby-sit' new chicks when I put them in the crate/brooder the first week. I would only move it outside when he outgrows the crate and yes, I do...
Hello All!
I am going to have my first gosling hatch this weekend. My husband brought home two goose eggs last month for me to incubate. I have hatched chickens, quail, peafowl, ducks and quail. As it turned out, one egg did not develop so I am going to have one lonely gosling for the...
Have you tried to clean her eye out? I had a young rooster with a similar issue a couple weeks ago. I treated him with Oxytetracyclin ('Oxytet') in the water and Neosporin directly in the eye, twice a day.. I gently got the nasty white pus out of the eye with tweezers after letting the...
He is quite handsome but I am not going to keep him. I am going to keep all the Red Stars I bought. I have 21 hens and 2 roosters, Bert & Ernie. That is why I'd like to know what breed this rooster is. I want to put the breed name in the ad I post.
He can't be a New Hampshire Red. This chick was black with a little bit of white on chest and rump. He also had blackish legs and feet. The New Hampshire Red is a yellowish and rust when hatched. This is supposed to be one of McMurray's 'rare/exotic' varieties.
I have looked at every single breed that McMurray sells and I can't figure it out. I had pictures of him when he was a baby but had to redo my computer and those pictures didn't get backed up like they were supposed to. He looks like a RIR or PR but he didn't look like them when he was...
I have a question for you guys... When you 'turn' your eggs, how do you actually 'turn' them? Do you roll them over or flip them? Just curious what is the recommended method of turning.
