Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

i wont be keeping all my goslings when/if they hatch. My friend lost her geese to a dog attack. so i decided that if this batch hatches i will surprise her and give her most of them to replace the ones she lost. 7 of them still look good when candled alot of movement. If all hatch ill keep two and give her the other 5. I'll have about 20 more eggs to incubate the next round. She helped me get my start on chickens years ago so im going to give her another start with geese.

That's so nice of you!

Thought I would share a pic or 2 of my little munchers this year. I just love bossy little goslings!

Hello All!
I am going to have my first gosling hatch this weekend. My husband brought home two goose eggs last month for me to incubate. I have hatched chickens, quail, peafowl, ducks and quail. As it turned out, one egg did not develop so I am going to have one lonely gosling for the next three weeks. I have since started incubating two more goose eggs and they are both fertile.

I hate the idea of this little guy/gal being alone for three weeks. I do have a bunch of 3 week old chicks I could put it with until the others hatch. I have a small kitty pool I could put in a pen right next to the chicks pen and put the gosling in there I guess. I will have it in the house in a crate the first few days.

I am excited to see the little guy. He/she has internally pipped so I can hear it now. I just love that sound. :) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be concerend 3 week old chicks may be a little to old for a newly hatched gosling, a large stuffed animal and a non breakable mirror will help to pass the time till the others hatch, of course the gosling will need your company too. and then putting the newly hatched gosling in with this one will have to be done carefully. Sounds like you plan on putting the gosling outside, will you be providing heat?

I like the idea of the stuffed animal and mirror. I do work at home so the little guy won't really ever be alone. One of my dogs also loves to 'baby-sit' new chicks when I put them in the crate/brooder the first week. I would only move it outside when he outgrows the crate and yes, I do have a heat source.
