Just wondering at what age would be ideal for butchering some barred roos? They are 12 weeks old now and have had all the grower they can eat plus free range.
I would say they are all hens. At 3 months old, i think if you had any roos they would really stand out.
I have some BR that are 6 weeks old and the roos are easy to pic out. Some of them are trying to crow.
If the holes are very big then yes a weasel will get through. They can fit through a very small hole. Maybe you can put some smaller mess wire in side the trap so it cant get through.
If you had a trap big enough to put the duck in then i would try that. If it was a weasel it will probably still be around. They like fresh meat and blood so even a piece of the duck would work.
I would collect the eggs and give them the water test, if they float, do not break them open, if they sink then crack into a bowl to see how they look.
Hens that are that young will most likely not set very good. I keep hens in until i think they are all done laying. Its not fun hunting all...
