It's one of my orpingtons that's doing it. One duck would go in the chicken coop and lay. Well now they are molting so I'll keep trying to be patient. We have looked everywhere. It's just a backyard but we can't find anything.
oh gotcha. Well hopefully they will start soon. I just thought it was odd that they laid through the winter and stopped in spring. We will see! I really love those duck eggs!
Yeah maybe so. I would have to save up for it but that's a good option. I can't see the side of the house. I see where they have started a nest but nothing in it ever. Last year they would lay in a few nest spots.
I forgot to mention they are about 18 months old or so.
So my ducks haven't laid in forever. I used to get 2 eggs a day consistently until earlier this year where one of my pekins broke her foot and then it was just one egg.
I've seen my cayuga go in the coop and lay but she has stopped now too. I don't get it. It's been over 5 months and I've barely...
I thought I replied but I went to work and xrayed her foot (I work at a vet clinic lol) and it was so hard to see but we think it was broken. It's finally healed up, it took about 4months and she is fine now. I'm glad she's better!
Ok I can't figure out what she did to herself. She is limping. I soaked it (will get epsom salts soon) in warm water. I can't see any kind of wound at all.
Could it be something else?
mine haven't come out yet. My ducks are out and about. they have their own coop but they decided to huddle under the chicken coop. Hopefully my girls will come out. This is their second winter and last year wasn't really cold.
Will a cookie tin heater work with a rubber bowl? I have ducks and chickens so I need something the ducks can dunk their head in. If not, I will buy a metal bowl.
Also do they need a pool or will a bucket do for the winter?
Yes, always have grit down. Usually, i dont give them a ton of grass but rather stuff around the yard like dead nettles and wild strawberries, not a whole lot of actual grass. We will throw in a handful here and there.
I lost my fav hen last night to impacted crop. Everyone else seems fine. I opened her up and it was a big wad but the pieces didn't seem excessively long.
Now, i am paranoid about giving them stuff from my yard like I have been. Did i give too much? pieces too big? Pieces too small? I have been...
My ducks are almost ready to be outside. Can you send me pics of your ramps? We have a big black tub we got at atwoods and we dont want to build a deck. We cant dog down cause of lines.
Thanks for the help!
