I have BBB hen, who I think is permanently damage from having lice. I rescued her and she had no feathers on her under carriage. Took me sometime to figure out why she no longer roosts like she used too. She can only jump maybe 2ft, and struggles a bit when doing it. =[ but I'm in the same boat...
I believe she's some kind of heritage. She's domesticated, makes her way into the house once a week. And thinks she can hatch eggs in the bush, but she doesn't sit on anything. Waiting for turkey chick's to buy and may try to introduce a few. But we feed her an all flock feed, it's 18% protein...
Miss Daisy has in the last 2 1/2 weeks has layed 10 eggs. 4 were double yolks, big giant eggs, 4 were single yolks and they last two she layed two eggs in one day both had no shell. Is this common? Is this to hard on her? I feel helpless because i dont know to much about turkeys as i do...
I'm treating a chicken with reoccurring Bumble foot. I need help with antibiotics and there dosage. Injections or feed in water. And length of treatment.
Thank you for the help in advance. Just want to help my lil lady get back up and going strong.
I monitor how much i give them of extra protein, but my ladies love tuna from a can. I stock up extra when stores have case lots. If you get tuna in oil, its soybean oil so just adds to the protein. I know soy is also not recommend as its a cheap source of protein but it doesnt hurt.
I have 12 laying ladies that love to lay eggs in one nest box, when there are four to choose from. They will even sit together in the same nest box to lay in just that one. Any advice on how to get them to lay in the other boxes?
Ive tried false eggs, moving the already layed eggs to another...
This is my guard dog. 2yr, husky/pit, 60lbs. I have had him for a year before we got chickens. This is my first flock at 9weeks old now. He knows and is trained that he cannot chase chickens or ducks. But he does go after quial, roadrunner, rabbits, hawks everything but my flock. I trust him to...
I live on two acres, and have only been free ranging our chickens in the front yard because they are still young. Their coop is in the backyard, which is less traveled by our dogs if they were to escape.
The only reason I bring up rehoming. Is yes, rehoming her would take care of many issues...
So i've been reading reading and reading, and trying to figure out if it is time for my flock to move out of the garage and into their home. But kinda am cautious cause this still new, very new to me
My plan and ideas:
1. I was going to move them out to the coop, and install some christmas rope...
My Rhode Reds love my wedding ring, The shiney center diamond, she loves to peck at it whenever its on. She also discovered the tattoo on my finger, when i dont wear my wedding ring, and she pecks at the too.
We hung a chick stick in the brooder, tied to each end of the brooder. It made a swing for my americauna. She would jump on top of the chick stick and swing. She also loved to jump on top of the waterer.
I also introduced treats, cantalope was the first thing I gave them. My Americauna yet...
My jack russel was 4 when I rescued her. And i've tried to retrain her on several occasions. Unfortunately, she is stubborn. And i've had her for several years, and she has not done well with anything other than another dog.
She walks all over my 1 yr old. She has killed cats, chickens, rodents...
This dog has had extensive training! We started out with training her to leave cats/kittens alone, and she refused. When we thought we would get some where with training. She'd outlash. She also was introduced to our chickens when they were a few days old. And every dog, we would let...
My elderly parents were going out the door, and she slipped past my mother and went after my chicks that were free ranging. They are only 5 weeks old, and for the past two weeks, I've allowed my flock [10 chicks, 4 ducks, all various ages] to free range in the front yard instead of in the back...
Today was a tragic day. Our Jack Russel slipped out the door, and got ahold of my Chubbs [bufforph]. She is never allowed outside with the chickens, this was a clear escape. But, she has never been good with anything other than dogs. She would kill again if given the opportunity.
What would...
