    What feather pattern is this?

Not a breed question, but I didn't find a better board to ask. The hen is I believe a mille fleur/Ameraucana mix. I'm not sure the quality of the parents. What is her individual feather pattern called?

When to allow chickens to roost

Thanks all. Most of our roosts are plenty wide and I think only one hen uses the one narrow one. I've been meaning to rotate that one anyway.

When to allow chickens to roost

It certainly seemed odd to me too.

When to allow chickens to roost

A 4H judge told my daughter last summer that you shouldn't allow chickens to roost until they are 6 months old. Something about the keel bone could grow crooked if they roost too early. I've found nothing that indicates anything about age to allow roost. Is this anything someone can...

    Lethargic chick

As an update, thick chick is back to normal. We didn't use Corid, since the only Corid we found was a huge $100 bottle. We put it back on medicated feed and in a couple of days back to normal and has been back with the other chicks for a few days.

    First Time Egg Candler Scared!

We've only had three hatches, but all three had their first pip while we were asleep. Our second hatch all but one hatched while we were asleep too. I do kinda like the little peep alarms waking me up at 2 AM. :)

    First Time Egg Candler Scared!

Chicks can sense when you are worried and hold off just to tease you. They'll probably wait until night to pip. :)

All the chicks are in a bin that hasn't been used with any chicks or chickens before, but is in a coop with other chickens. The chicks are on non-medicated feed now but were started on medicated.

    Lethargic chick

I found one of our almost 3 week old chicks lethargic and with eyes closed yesterday morning. None of the other chicks in the brooder show any signs of trouble. We separated and after a day it has improved. Eyes are open and it is drinking. I don't know whether it is eating. It moves around...

    Buff orp chicks sexing

These two have the same parents. Their tails are pretty distinctively different at this point. Does this indicate sex?

Same parents? I had chicks with different parent hatch 3-4 days apart.
