Wow!!! Thank you so much! I am very interested in checking that out!!! Our flock has a 1/4 acre pasture and that would make it very easy to just grow some in their pen!
Hey there, I just picked up this boy from an auction yesterday... I noticed his droopy eye, does it look like eye worm? I picked up some Vetrx from TSC in case it is.. He came with 2 hens as well...I haven't noticed anything abnormal with them, but if it is eye worm should I treat the whole...
We call her big momma as she has taken all the little chicks under her wing. She's about 3.5 months old, we are hoping she's really a big momma and not a big daddy lol!
There is something wrong with my chick! I went to go check on them and bring them outside and I saw this girls eyes looks like they had been poked out, I cleaned them with a warm cloth, but the poor thing is all swollen! I noticed 3 others look like their eyes are irritated too, but nothing like...
They are at least 4.5 weeks, as that's how long I have had them and they were told to be between 2 and 5 days when I got them. They were the first chicks we received as babies and we lost a bunch out of that batch. We have since found out that the place we got them from is known for selling sick...
Okay, I have some more for ya! My guess is the chipmunk colored is a pullet and then the black, as well as the white bird, are cockerels. The three larger ones that I am guessing on are 5 weeks old, give or take.
We just ordered 15 chicks that should be arriving on Wednesday...my boyfriend picked this up at tractor supply today and we were thinking of placing it underneath the straw in the brooder, we don't use a heat lamp, but a 75 watt bulb instead for safety purposes. On the instructions they say...
Also, what baffles me is that the two older pullets, not positive on age but they are fully feathered, are in a larger brooder box that is right next to these babies, and they are absolutely fine! They came from two different places too, and I am curious if maybe the big ones were vaccinated...
I have been trying to do research all night, it seems as though they may be a tad young to be dying off from Marek's.. Does anyone have any input on this subject?
I have noticed before each chick has died that they start by stumbling a bit, then becoming quite lethargic, can't stand, they...
I also messed up on the age, they were 1-4 days when I first picked them up, but we have now had them for just over a week, so that would put some of them at 1-1/2 weeks old. I will have to check the temp under the bulb, I also have been reducing the temp in the room itself, as maybe it was too...
