They are with the flock.... My gimpy hen has taken them in, and another hen keeps an eye on them, when she's away. I think all will be well with these 3, just hope one of them s a hen.....
That's what I thought.. But I do have one hen here who is about to have some hatch. I also have another hen, who is gimpy, that seems to follow the hen and these chicks around. I'm just mad my horse did this.. As many time as the chickens have ran under the horse and picked flys for them and...
My hen that had chicks running with her just got killed by my horse. Well, now 3 little chicks are on their own..... Will another hen step in and take over care? The chicks are 3 weeks old.
If this is the wrong place to post this, please let me know.
Thanks,
Michelle
This little guy/gal came out of the shell this way.. I have shaving for bedding, but I had to move it away from the other duckling cause it was being picked on, so I moved it to a small box(with food adn water) inside the brooder, so it can still get heat from the lamp and hear it's...
I has my 1st batch of ducks hatch over the last few days and the last one to hatch seems REALLY WEAK... It can't keep it's little legs under it(they slide to the sides when it moves). When does move it's more like it's flipping to where it needs to go. I've gave it some water, via dropper. It...
I should've said "I put in with the other chicks(in it's on little cage)".
This is what I get for letting my husband do the typing when I'm getting ready to do morning chores..
The little guys is going down hill, so he will be "culled". I don't have a prooblem with it, but my husband...
**UPDATE**
The little one made it through the night and has had it's 1st drink and food. It seems to be doing OK, so I will give it a chance.. I placed it with the other chicks and every one seems to be ok with it there.
Ok, I checked it. It is soft, and the poor baby hated it.. Every time I touched it, it did a little bounce as if in pain(I don't really blame it).. But I will see how it does in the morning and than decide what to do with it.. It will not go into my breeding group(but than again I want to get...
I know that the part of the shell is still on it, and I a bit afraid to move it right now, as I want it to calm downa bit before I got poking on it to see if the bump is soft, hard or what ever.. I will give it a few minutes and than check it again
It's just a mixed chick.. I have Buff, RIR, Barred Rock, and EE hens and a couple of misfit roos running around here, so no telling what it is.
I don't know what to do, I've never seen this before either.. I'm a little freaked out right now..
This little guy hatched just a few minutes ago, and hubby came in to tell me, "Um I think his brains are hanging out."
Is it his brains..
Sorry for the dirty bator, I had 40 eggs in there and this little guy is #28 to hatch
I was at Atwoods, in greenville Texas yesterday and they had baby chickies from Ideal Poultry. So being that I needed a few more pullets, I got the last 8 they had.. I got bantam instead of big chicks, only casue I think bannies are cool..
Here's a link to my new babies, just flip past...
Yesterday morning, during feeding, one of my 12 week old free range chicks met the underside of Ms Voodoo's hoof... I got Voo to move and noticed that the chick wasn't moving like normal.. After getting it and looking closer I found out it had a broken leg (that was all that Voo stepped...
Mine was too. But I left them in the bator to get good and dry and in about 24 hours it was like nothing had happened. The one weak chick and the one that has already passed away both hatched on their own, go figure..
So I did help the 1st chick a bit (just opened the shell up enough so it could get out on it's own.. It was a Huge chick.. Than Sunday I had another chick do the same thing (It was alos big).
So far out of 30 eggs in the bator, 25 have hatched (Hatch date is today). We have one chick that I'm...
