Thank you. We have another one gone as of an hour ago. We believe this predator is an owl that brown in through the screen of the coop, as it has a rip in it. The chicken we just found was headless with large punctures to the abdomen. We are going to put a camera tomorrow.
Your compassion is deeply noted...
Our "run" area is incredibly large. We do have an area that is covered, but for the entire thing to be would be pointless of giving them a large run in the area that we do. When I asked about this question it was not in the question of judgement on myself, my...
They are all in a very large coop along with a fenced off area. The top is not enclosed. It's fenced off from large predators.
My husband was wondering if the rooster did this but with the amount of harm in the hen, I would think a hawk.
Hi, I have five hens and two roosters. This morning my daughter woke up to find one hen dead and opened to where you could see her insides, and a rooster dead in another area. Although, all of the other chickens seem to be okay we have never had anything like this to happen before. Any ideas...
My chicks are around 12 weeks old and are still cuddling together on the ground. When should they be going to the roost at night? Do I need to help this transition?
Our coop. I should've mentioned that our older hens went to new homes in the fall. We will only be keeping 10 hens from the 15 I have. We only seem to have room for 8-10 in our coop comfortably.

But I've simply become the crazy chicken lady of our area thanks to our...
Thank you for letting me know that although our previous girls were old and after speaking with their original owners we decided it was best to not have them right now.
These photos are from April at my daughter's ninth birthday when she received her first hens. They were such beautiful and fun hens to have although all 8 quit laying between July to September, so they are graciously "living happily" with their new Amish families nearby.
We have room for 8-10...
Yes, we do have a coop in place and ready for them.
We took them off of the lamp last week because our temps in southern Kentucky hit around 70, and it was very warm in the garage. I decided then to leave them off to see how they adjusted. I believe I worry more about them, than they are...
We are first time "parents" of 15 chicks that we brought home from our preschool incubation project. My daughter and I have had chickens in the past although she received them in April as older laying hens.
Our chicks are now going on 4 weeks old and live in two seperate troughs within our...
