I also want to add that her eye looked to be cloudy in the cornea not the iris area. Not 100% sure though. She wont open it long enough to be 100% but im pretty sure its her cornea. Ive read it could be mareks if her iris is cloudy but she has no other signs of mareks except that she doesnt...
OK, so i went out again tonight and finally got her eye opened enough to see it well enough and squirt it with the saltwater completely. After that i noticed she didnt seem to have anything in her eye but im hoping the saltwater helped out somehow. But one thing that scared me tonight was i...
Hi guys i have a dilemma with my favorite hen i like to call fatty. The other day i went back to clean out the coop and noticed one hen was still in the run, fatty. She wasnt really walking around and i noticed she had been itching her left eye against her feathers every now and then. I soon saw...
I heard that if you place a piece of chain at the center of your chicken coop door it will make the foxes think its a trap and they won't kill your chickens.. Is this true?
I just installed some hotwire yesterday and the dog came back and got shocked... Haven't seen it since. Thanks for all the advice I will look into the billing for the loss of eggs and rooster.
It's VERY frustrating because I have to stop what I'm doing every 15 or 30 minutes during the day to check on them and make sure its not at the coop. They leave it out all day and night so I am constantly on patrol
They're definitely pullets. I have three EEs myself and had questionsd their gender at first too. But those definitely look like pullets based on their posture and feathers
UPDATE//
Came home from a pool party and my entire flock was out of their coop and run area. We have a huge predator proof setup and somehow they got out. I let them back in the coop and fed and watered them..soon the dog came back and the hens saw it and ran for the back of the run. I soon see...
Is there any legal action I can take? This has gone on too long and my neighbors simply don't care. We went back there to so see two hens being chased after we found the hen in its mouth and my dead rooster
Wow! That is awful I thought I had it bad with my neighbors and my flock of chickens! Hope you can figure something out soon..I'd be terrified when I leave..but the homeless aren't that scary when your face to face. As long as you've got the gun, and they don't..you should be fine.
My favorite rooster named Dominique (a barred rock, ironically) was found dead in the coop when we went for eggs. All the other hens are OK though. We saw our neighbors dog running around the coop at the same time he was dead. No marks or blood on him. Next, we saw the dog behind our ac unit...
Can I write with sharpie on my eggs? I want to start putting the dates they were laid on the egg but I don't know if that is bad for or will affect the egg.
