That's great! I think we will be wanting to start incubating at the end of February. Could we reserve a dozen eggs for them? Is that possible? This is my first time trying to incubate eggs so I'm not sure how this all works. Thanks for your patience!

Hello,
I am new to chicken keeping. We have 5, 10 1/2 week old OEGB and we just picked up 18 new babies at the hatchery on Wednesday. On of the silkie babies (a small black one) has a bad eye. We noticed it yesterday. I though it might have gotten pecked? I have been gently cleaning around...
So another question. Once I see her coloring up how long does it usually take for her
To begin laying? I have my best boxes blocked off. When should I remove the block?
Whew! I was ready to throw in the towel! Six Roos and two hens would be really bad odds!...five and threes not so great. Glad I don't gamble, except on chicks. Lol. Thank you!!!!!
Hi,
We are new to the chicken "thing". We got eight chicks at TSC about ten weeks ago. I thought I had a pretty good idea of who the roosters were...eight roo to three pullets :/ Today I was looking at one of the "pullets" and I noticed that her comb and wattles are growing and turning...
Hi,
I'm new to this chicken wrangling. I am wondering what the recommendations are for putting in the chickens dust bath? I have read lots of contradictory things so I am coming to those with experience! What do you find works or doesn't work. What is safe, not safe? I really appreciate...
Hi,
I know this guy is a rooster but I am curious as to what variety he might be?!? I have included a shot of his legs. Is this what people refer to as green legs?
Again, I know he's a rooster but am not sure of anything other than that. These guys are almost nine weeks old. They came...
i have just moved my eight chicks out to our new coop, here in south TX. The chicks are seven weeks old. Tonight I went to get them
Into the coop and discovered to coop inside and out was crawling with cut ants. They are after the chicken feed. The ants aren't interested in meat but they...
I know he is a little rooster but I'm not sure what he is. I got these chicks at TSC in the bantam bin. They are about seven weeks old now. Thanks for your help!!
I have eight chicks right now. Two are standard sized, a silver leghorn, and what was supposed to be a RIR but I am leaning towar New Hampshire. Also six bantams. The guy in the picture is...I guessing OEGB?? he began as soild black feathers and now he is beginning to show grey mixing in...
this might be a silly question but do chicks begin a second "molt" (I don't know if it's a real molt) almost as soon as they have fully feathered out? Do their colors/patterns change? Is this (at 5 1/2 weeks) a juvenile pattern/color? I'm seeing lots of dark feathers from my black rooster in...
They are fully feathered. Our temps have ranged from the 90's to the 40's and everything in between. Also we have been having tons of rain. Should I be worried about the moisture and very high humidity? I think my guys may already be spoiled
hi,
We are new chicken parents. We have six bantam babies and two standard chickens...as of yet we have no idea what most of them are. I posted pics on the gender and breed forum but no luck. They are now 5 1/2 weeks old. We have been having unseasonably cool weather here(not that I am...
We are from Texas so I would guess they came from Ideal hatchery. They have a LARGE selection of bantams. I haven't had much luck finding juvenile photos of the different breeds.
