I'm more wondering how many feathers they should have or do I wait till they start to roost

For me it isn't about the criss-cross birds and making something new but finding a bird that works for me be it pure or mutt and personally I have found more mutts that fit my liking than pure breeds for the simple fact that a good breeder is so hard to find

That is one thing I can't complain about the air here is awesome I work in confined spaces all the time so I am taking air readings all the time the amount of oxygen in Toronto is 19% on a good day and here in St john's is as high as 24 % on a cool day

I have been looking into the soldier fly thing to and I think I can over winter some in a old fish tank that I have to get a good amount of them to the spring I was reading that if you keep them at a lower temperature like 18°c you can extend the life of them by weeks
It is easier than plucking all you need is a good knife and a stable cutting surface I cut around the joints and then split the skin on the beast and the iner thy and pull off the feather sweater and if it is a nice saddle I dry it and sell it for 15 bucks to people that tie Flys for fishing
