My father in law visited for a few days and while he was here, one of the chooks died. She was not very old (under 1 year) and seemed to be ok but we found her dead in the morning.
He had a look at her and said 'I don't think its what killed her but you might wana check your chooks as this one...
My incubator is made from a 120 litre fridge. I use 2x40 watt bulbs because it gets the heat back up in a very short time. I'm sure 2x25 watts would do the job but slightly slower.
I have built the 2 bulbs in to the freezer compartment and there is a rangehood fan mounted in there as well...

We got 50 chooks...about 30-35 are laying between every day to every second day...we get different eggs from most of them. anything from brown, no bigger than sparrows egg, white arounf 35-40 gr (thats our grey bantam girl) and up to 90 gram brown. aside from weight, there are speckels, dots...

Ok...Im confused. Our chooks eat both cooked and raw potatoes and love it. Obviously no green skin as I know its poisonous but all other peel and off-cuts. Also, they love beans...raw GREEN beans and Peas in the pod...they dont eat the pods...
