12 week old bantam cochin + one lohmann (leghorn), need help sexing them

Cool! White lohmann is the breed they use for white egg production here, so I assumed their offspring is the same or does it work differently?

12 week old bantam cochin + one lohmann (leghorn), need help sexing them

Hello! I have six 12 week old bantam cochins and one lohmann (bred from leghorn) that I hatched from a store bought egg as an experiment when my hen turned broody. Three of them I'm sure what they are, but the onesI have a hard time telling so I would really get appreciate getting some help...

Three new hens with lethargy and loose droppings

I just saw hen 3 'vomiting' after she was drinking - she bent down to eat some grass and a bit of water came up. Is this something that can happen normally or is it another sickness indicator? Her droppings are still really watery and look like the pictures :( She's still the most alert of them...

Ten days, and I don't know their weight because I don't have any scales.

Three new hens with lethargy and loose droppings

Hello! About ten days ago I got a new group of five adult laying hens, and it's the first time I'm buying adult birds so I don't know what's common or not. I noticed at least one of them had watery dropping as soon as I let them inside the run, but I figured it was from not eating (they had...

'Water' from both ends, please offer me some advice!

I think I'm gonna have to put her down tomorrow if she doesn't get better over night :( She's too weak to stand up, and if I try to persuade her to drink she doesn't even react so the water just drips from her beak. I managed to get about a tablespoon of yogurt in her with a syrings, but she's...

'Water' from both ends, please offer me some advice!

Reviving this thread because she's still sick and now i'm really confused to what's going on. Her poo is more solid now and looks more normal, and her vent isn't swollen any longer but she has a lot of white stuff stuck to her butt which has been dripping from the butt feathers (sorry lol it's...

Hello, I'm new to this forum and keeping chicken.

Thank you :) Yes, I made a thread there a while ago actually. She had water coming out of her beak and diarrhea earlier today, now she's just standing in a corner and sleeping...

'Water' from both ends, please offer me some advice!

I think she's perked up a little now. At least she is standing up instead of just lying down the whole time, she realized her friends were on the other side of the cage and tried to get to them. She's also pooped a bit and even it's runny there's some brown stuff in it now and not just water so...

'Water' from both ends, please offer me some advice!

I actually just went outside and put ice and a bit of apple cider vinegar in their water. I also gave all of them filmjölk (cultured soured milk), and put the sick pullet in her own cage in the shade. I got her to drink a little both of the water and the milk, but she isn't really interested...

'Water' from both ends, please offer me some advice!

I read somewhere that yogurt would help because of the probiotics. We don't have buttermilk here, but we have something called "filmjölk" which is a cultured, soured milk. Do you think it can be used instead?

Hello, I'm new to this forum and keeping chicken.

Hi! I'm a guy from Sweden who's recently moved to the countryside from the city and working on setting up a homestead, so getting chicken for eggs, meat and companionship just seemed like a natural thing for me to do. I've already fallen in love with these birds, and I'm very much looking...

'Water' from both ends, please offer me some advice!

Thanks, I'll see if I can get ahold of a veterinarian. I live in Sweden, and i'm pretty sure you need a prescription for it. I think i'll isolate her in her own cage and try giving her some yogurt in the meantime, so I can keep an eye on her droppings and general state easier.

'Water' from both ends, please offer me some advice!

So I'm completely new to keeping chicken,I got my first ones about two months ago. This might be a long entry, but I want to include as much info as I can. About three days ago I bought five chicken from my neighbor, they're about two months old. It's been pretty hot recently, and the three...
