Hi there!
I have always love coloring and when it started to be a new trend, I got sucked in immediately. Also, since I have small kids and I've been struggling to combine work & being mom, coloring has been really good way to be together with kids meanwhile they draw and color their books...
He is the sweetest little Silkie Bantam boy (bought as a day old chick, raised with a pampered backyard flock), and started just crowing (crows couple times per week) but unfortunately no-crow collar doesn't prevent crowing as much I hoped, and we're living in a neighborhood where crowing...
Yes, I know the feeling. We were about to re-home our Maran and RIR too, but then miracle happened, and my mean blonde got broody exactly when we had our new babies, so she's been a bit nicer to flock addition than she probably would have been otherwise. But I wouldn't try make her take care of...
Haha.
My first bunny was called Nana, and these 3... well, their names are Finnish: Kepponen ("trick"), Löppönen (doesn't mean anything, it's just a surname in Finland, but it's onomatopoetic name for Lop bunny) and Töppönen("Slipper"), although my english speaking kids call them also...
I have a mixed flock at my backyard, well, my polish chickens are just 4 months old youngsters, so I don't have long experience with them, but my original flock was silkies & buff brahmas, then I added some dual purpose breeds, Rhode Island Red, White Maran, Australorp and Barred Plymouth. This...
Yes. They have their own door (to the run) at the side. You can see it behind the water fountain at the left. Chickens do not have access to the maintenance area. :)
My trick is not to put poop on those rugs.
(they are cheap synthetic rugs by the way, easy to clean and dust when needed, actually easier than bare floor, since you can roll them and shake outside)
Yes, looks more like golden laced. :) For example, here-s my silver laced & golden laced polish baby chicks. Gold one at the right. Of course, if you are not 100% sure from her background, she could be a mix.
I'd like to see if anyone here has mixed/grossed color polish chickens? I would...
Thank you for your reply. I'm not offended, no worries. :)
I have couple of smaller rabbit hutches for separating, when needed.
Our backyard has netting buried on the ground, because previous resident used to have couple of digging dogs. I'm pretty sure it's keeping rabbits in as well, and...
Well, coop is fully closed most of the time (except chicken door to the run), especially during the night (then also chicken door is locked), so chicken wire is not for predator defense. :) It's just keeping chickens out of maintenance side.
I'm living in sub-urban area, not in the country...
After we built our new chicken coop, one of the old ones was empty, and I decided to get couple bunnies for my kids.
I have miniature lop (girl), holland lop (girl) and lionheadxholland lop (boy), and they are all living peacefully together in their hutch, and free at the backyard at the...
I'm not an expert, but since I just had a black Cochin Baby chick this summer, this doesn't look like him that much. I think cochin babies have more feathers in their feet and the shape of their head is a bit more dainty... this could be a mix between breeds?
...or, then it's blue cochin, and...
Thank you @sunflour :)
Yes, I'm pretty proud of it since it's homemade and low-budget coop. With recycled materials etc.
I have to take a look of that member page-thing. :)
Here's the picture where the mirror-idea came....
...She actually came inside our home, regularly, just to...
I just wanted to show my new coop. My husband built it from garden shed kit, and I built, painted and designed the interior. Since we're Scandinavians living in California, there's some IKEA hacks and nordic style design ideas.
I wanted to make a coop, what's also easy to keep as clean as...
You might be right that she's an Easter Egger too, but just to be correct, MyPetChicken deliveres also baby chicks from Meyer Hatchery.
I thought she was Easter Egger before some other chicken enthuasiasts started to say she looks more like Ameraucana. The white one is clearly easter egger...
