Hoping in a few years this little flock will have produced for me a whole yard full of "Ornaments".
I have a cochin bantam hen and rooster. I'm hoping to raise some chicks from this pair. The hen has started to lay eggs, but has not gone broody and now the forecast is calling for below freezing temps at night. My question is should I bring the eggs inside at night to keep them from freezing or...

All my dogs have been exposed to chickens as puppies. Just like the cats they think their all part of the pack.

Thanks lilcrow. Don't suppose that you have any opinion on which commercial hatchery may have the best birds? Will keep watch on the Cochin International website and see if any thing comes up or maybe try to find some eggs next spring.
OK, I did a search on site and found out a lot about the Blue-Self Blue question. I guess I should have did that before posting . And I imagine this rooster is too young to tell yet which one he is. OPPS didn't see the replies to my thread until after I posted. Thanks everyone for your replies.
Hello all, new member here. I had cochins (just pets) 30 some years ago and just recently got back into the breed. I picked up a Blue rooster and two White hens last weekend and a Black hen with Brown neck feathers today. Have a question about the color Blue. I see some people talk about Blue...
