Any chance that you lost power during the 24 hour period and they got cold? Maybe when you weren't home to notice?

Sorry for the confusion. I actually have 4 cages. Three of them have 5 hens and one roo. The other cage has 2 hens and one roo. I was thinking of taking one hen from each of the 3 cages and putting them in with the 2 hens. That way the 2 birds that aren't laying get some rest and start laying.

I put 47 Coturnix in the incubator today. My first two attempts at hatching eggs didn't turn out so well, but I'm hoping I got the kinks worked out for this one. Luckily I have a steady supply of eggs, so the experiment continues.......

I never tried candling. I thought it was kind of fruitless with quail eggs. Can't hurt to try I guess.
