Ameraucauna Vrs Easter Egger! Such a "Raw Nerve" with some folks!

Quote: Yep, they're called sports. That's how the white marans variety came about. They originated from some cuckoo marans who just happen to throw some white offspring. Quote: Hmmm......... a muffed and bearded bird that lays pink eggs, neat! Wait a minute.... I think someone already beat...

    Crossing Penedesenca x Ameraucana

I don't know about an Ameraucana x Pen cross, but I do have an EE roo that I've crossed with my Wheaten Pen girl. Out of the 5 chicks that hatched, we kept two and gave the others away. One of our girls just recently started laying, and she lays a brown egg. This girl inherited her father's pea...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Quote: Heh heh! I know what you mean. I have a similar situation going here. I have an EE roo that is kept with some Marans hens and a Wellie hen. All of the hens kow tow to him except for the Welsummer. She still allows him to mount her, but when it comes to who gets the best spot on the...

    Hatching eggs dilemma, help!

OK, here's my situation: I had 7 of my Pen girl's eggs in a Brinsea mini. But because her eggs are so long, they're not turning properly because they're rubbing up against the center water reservoir. Because of this, I moved her eggs over into another incubator which incubates eggs in a vertical...

    Photoshopped???

I know that there are some people here who have Turken- Ameraucana crosses that will lay the blue/green eggs.

    Photoshopped???

While the eggs in the 2nd and 3rd photos look natural, there's no way that one in the first picture is real. I've seen some really green eggs, but that thing is a day-glow florescent green . Has anyone here actually seen eggs like this for real...

    Free hatching eggs

Hi! Are there any members here who are from around the SF Bay area, who want some free hatching eggs? Most of the eggs are from EE x Marans & EE x EE. I also have some EE x the following: Ancona, Andalusian, Buttercup, Penedesenca and RIR. If you're interested, just PM me so we can set...

Do Ameracaunas all lay blue/blue green eggs?

What color are her legs? True Ameraucanas will have slate colored shanks (or sometimes black in the black varieties). EE's will usually have green or greenish yellow legs.

    Are all hens like this?

Quote: Yeah, we tried doing the same thing. We removed all of the partitions from the separate boxes in order to make it a bigger community nest, and it has helped somewhat.. though it hasn't totally eliminated all of the problems. Just the other day, one of our EE hens had her heart set on a...

    Are all hens like this?

All of my girls do this, and I was just wondering why? Even when they are several different empty nest boxes to choose from, they all insist in trying to get into the one that's already occupied. Even if its being occupied by a dominant hen that pecks and beats the crap out of them. Does...

black australorp and a blue egg? (added pics)

With those reddish brown feathers in her hackles, she looks a lot like a Black Copper Marans hen. It's possible that she's the result of someones attempt to cross a BCM with an EE or Ameraucana, in order to get an olive egger.

Easter Egger Baby Chicks...... show off your pics

Quote: Wow! They're such cuties! Being at such a young age, how can you already tell that the yellow chick is a cockerel? Are all their moms also EE's? I'm currently in a situation that's similar to yours. We recently had four successful hatches. All have the same EE dad, but 4 different moms...

    Olive egger question

I'm really impressed with some of the eggs that some of you guys here have been getting from your Marans x EE crosses. Especially the ones where the roo was a BCM. My question is - what if the cross was the other way around, EE x Marans? Will the eggs be just as nice? I currently have some very...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy : One more question: Will Julia ONLY lay green eggs, or will she also lay blue, pink eggs, etc? Contrary to popular belief, a hen's egg color can and does sometimes change. I'm not sure how common it is, but we have one EE girl who's eggs did just that. When we first got her...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

I just thought about it, and the only ones that you can be pretty much be sure as to what their adult coloration will be, are the platinum blond chicks. They will always be white as adults. Darker blond chicks will usually turn out to be either buff or wheaten as adults.

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Quote: Not really. With EE's, because of their mixed heritage, their adult plumage can look totally different than what they looked like as chicks. We have one pullet (Coco), so named because as a chick she was a rich chocolate brown color. As an adult, she is now red. We also have one roo who...

    Dorking?

I only had one silver grey female, and she was one of the sweetest girls that I've ever kept. She was very docile and would always follow me around the yard and want to be held. She was also very quiet. She didn't cackle and cluck nearly as much as our other hens.
