Update: It seems that it went back in (up) all by itself within 15 minutes after she dropped a yolk only (no shell)on the lawn. She been playing, eating and drinking with the other chickens all day. We will keep a close eye on her (she's one of the favorites!)...

we have the same design for ventilation but i installed a drop down board on hinges to prevent the draft on cool winter nights. in the summer the board is hung up allowing for good air movement by a snap hook.
We put in one roost diagnol just above the nest boxes but the ladies all manage to finf their way up to the middle rafter of the roof every night. I've read in several places that for standards 10 inches per bird is adequate and our girls all like to snuggle in close to each other leaving alot...

Okay I know these guys are still a bit young (they are only 4 weeks old) but I am getting scared as my kids (and me) are getting attached. We, and our neighbors, only want pullets but think there might be 1 or 2 roos in the mix that I will have to find a home for. Any insight is welcome and...
