Hey! I got a few chicks but have no idea what breed they are! Maybe RIR?
This one is a bit darker than the rest though...
Thanks for any info! Honestly I want to get some speckled Sussex or a gold laced whyndottes so I'll probably sell a few of these ones! Super cute though!
Well it's like there are missing feathers. Right where the V is. My other chicks feathers go across and fill in all the way so it's like a section is missing. Right there in the middle, like column of feathers just aren't there. And it's on both sides. Maybe it is nothing but I was worried...
I bought 5 baby chicks from a local guy, one of which was really tiny but I fell in love so why not! It's a blue laced red whyndotte (or so I was told) anyway! Breed doesn't matter but the tiniest one has odd wing feathering. The other 3 like him all have filled out wings (though they are almost...
I figured! XD I bought them from a local guy and he was just like okay good luck. and yeah. It's okay if they are dudes, so long as they don't attack each other or me!
That makes me glad because I'm super attached to both of them now and can't get rid of them! (To a fate unknown) if it's a dude I'll name him Demyx XD but I'm still hopeful. They have similar legs that look thick to me so I was like nooooo babies! I have lots of chicks now to take care of but...
I got two chicks about.... 4-5 weeks ago I think. The barred rock I'm certain is a dude but I also got a Rhode Island Red. Thinking it would be good to have ones I can easily distinguish from each other. So now I wonder what's the RIRs gender. It and the barred rock, who I now call Xigbar...
I enter to get a variety, I'd like lavender Orpington, golden comets, and there was a speckled one I really thought was cute (susex I think?) Also some Easter Eggers. Only I've read online there are a variety of "Easter egger" chickens and I'm like okay but which one is the one I want xD or all...
I was actually afraid of getting too many! I've never had chickens before and had researched their care but I wanted just two so I could be sure that I wouldn't kill them! But now I know that I'm doing something right I have a few more on the way! :D
I figured as much! I hope the RIR is a lady so I don't have to worry about rehoming both of them! I have a feeling my neighbors won't be happy with crowing! xD
After buying my first house (finally) I have 5 acres of land and suddenly it dawned on me. I can own chickens! (After checking local laws of course) so I've gotten my first two chicks already and will be getting a few more in the next week!
The babies~
Lots of people at work gave me advice and...
So I went and got two chicks the other day from a local farm. And I'm like 95% sure it's a dude but I'm not an expert. I figured from the comb it's a male though...
One more picture!
I'm pretty sure the RIR is a female but I really hope I didn't pick two dudes!
