We had rescued a baby chick late spring. We rescued it from its mother. She tried to kill it once it came out of the egg. Little did we know, she knew more than we knew. However, we took it in the house, put it in a box with a lamp, bedding, food and water. We raised it, and after a while...
Ok....So...I got 7 chix from the fair...they told me what they where when I got them...but I think 3 of them ended up being mixed breeds...I will post the other 2 in question after this one, but this is my favorite - this one spends time inside and outside and we let her tell us where she wants...
IMHO if you have a chicken that really wants or enjoys swimming in hot weather - get a very small rubbermaid container and fill it with fresh NON CHLORINATED OR TREATED water. Fill it with the same water you would allow them to drink. Let them decide if they want to swim or not.
Not all...
I will have to try the treats. He will not roost on anything other than the ground. Instead of walking down the ramp, he tries very hard to avoid it, flaps his wings as hard as he can, and crash lands on the ground.
His hen will use the ramp to get to the food, but she is not as heavy as he...
I really need some advice. We started out with 2 Cornish Cross chickens we bought from TSC as "pets" for my youngest. Being the uneducated chicken person, we let her pick them out. After some time we learned about them being meat chickens and have taken great strides to not over feed them...
I love my chickens because when I first got them (3 of them from TSC) no one told me that Cornish Cross were meat chickens...how devistating to find that out...Well we already had emergency vet visit because the Roo got sick when he was 2.5 weeks old...Vet said he wouldn't make it through the...
Sounds about right - my ducks go through 3 gallons of water in 2 days...as long as they check on them and make sure they have clean fresh water when they get there, all should be good.
Just be prepared for them to be ready to be let out when you get home
My 2 pups do too, but came to find out today my Cornish X Rooster now has coccia (sp?) and if the dog has eaten it....ummm....???? Guess who is going to the vet tomorrow to get checked???
They can't help it...as my dad says...when you wake up in the morning and the first thing you want to do...
Hi! I'm new to the site
I am curious how your ducks are doing now? We also got 3 Mallards beginning of May from TSC. Since that time, I have given one of my 2 females to my niece (she had 2 males and 1 female and I had 2 females and one male). I have the other two. They have their own...
Hi New to the site - but wanted to add a tidbit - we are first time chicken owners since May 1 - we got 3 chicks and 3 mallard chicks from TSC. Since that time, we have had a tradgedy - we lock our chickens and our ducks (much to the ducks dismay) up at night. One night we lost one of our...
