I have successfully hached eggs that were 3 weeks old. They stayed at room temp for 3 weeks and I turned them 2 to 3 times a day during storage. Of course this was a one time thing and it was only 3 eggs, but every one of them hatched. However, I will say fresher is better.
It would take to long to explain here, so heres a link. There are some good pics and explainations of how to make a set. Its really not all that hard to learn just takes some time to perfect your techniques.
Good luck!

Hello! I'm from North Cullman Co., but going to college in auburn right now.
Anyway, I was just wondering what the chickens at Lacon Trade day are bringing now? I have bought most of my chickens from there, usually paid about 10-15 dollars for a grown layers, but it seems they have gone up...
I would say feral dog(s). We had some around here once, killing all our calves, but not eating them. Many times these dogs won't kill for food, but for fun.
The only time I have ever been checked was when the alarms went off, because the cashier had failed to do something to the DVD or CD case to keep it from triggering the alarms. I have no problem with them checking my reciept, anytime they want. I don't steal anything and have nothing to hide.
We have baled hay that had Johnson grass in it, and haven't had any problems. But only small amounts were in the bales. Black Cherry trees are also very poisionous to livestock, espesially the leaves that have wilted, as they have a high concentration of cyinide once they wilt.
I found a "round rock" in the woods the other day. It made a nice addition to my bator, and its devleoping.
P.S. The "rock" wasn't in a nest, just laying out in the open. Just so ya know I don't go around stealing "rocks" all the time:)
I have seen that several of you have been hatching in egg cartons lately, and was just wondering what kind of results your having. I've got a turkey egg and soon to be 3 chickens eggs in the bator, and might give it a try.
Thanks,
Jon
I just made a huge big long post, and then...noooooooooooo! TOPIC CLOSED! I understand ya'll don't want it to become a big fight, but I didn't see any reason for the post to be locked, when it was still a very civil and interesting debate. Maybe we need a debate forum.
I don't want to seem callus or mean, but... our county is #1 or #2 in the state of Al. and very high up in the nation, for the most chickens produced. Around here its a way of life, I have seen hundreds possibly a thousand chicken trucks go by my house, and I'm only 21. Sure I like my chickens...
