    Can they stay out?

Sounds like it might be a pretty big storm but the little ones don't know it but they may be sleeping in the book coop house tonight!

    Can they stay out?

Need some advice. My chicks just turned 6 weeks yesterday. They have been doing day trips for about a week now and the older chicks leave them alone 95% of the time. It's been nice and warm during the day and they have been out when it is 65 and warmer. I want today to be they day they stay...

Freak out with me ... chicks being delivered on Day 4!

Sad to report we are left with 5. The two original that did not look good ended up passing on the first day. The other 3 passed the next day but we started noticing they were looking lethargic that first night. I tried to nurse them but by the next morning they were gone. :hit With all my...

Freak out with me ... chicks being delivered on Day 4!

No extra. I had 12 exactly. Their website says they do refunds so I will fill out the form after 48 hours and see what they say. They have a heat source. I use a sweeter heater so in the picture is the white long things

Freak out with me ... chicks being delivered on Day 4!

I expected to pick them up because I called them and that is what they told me as well. The tracking on the site threw me off because it said out for delivery. I tried calling the office they were at but they never picked up so I decided just to show up ... and it worked out great

Freak out with me ... chicks being delivered on Day 4!

Yes! that is my plan. When I go to pick them up I will have food and warm water with NutriDrench (thanks for the reminder). I will be turning on the warm light really early to make sure the area is warm and ready for them.

Freak out with me ... chicks being delivered on Day 4!

Long time chicken mama but first time ordering chicks through the mail and having a freak attack. Just need some nice words to tell me everything will be ok (hopefully) I usually get my chicks locally but this year decided to get some breeds that are not usually found around me. I ordered 12...

Do you think the chicks can go outside fulltime??

I had a new set up which made it easier and I have a husband who luckily did not complain about the mess and dust. Historically, I start taking them outside around the 6 week mark if weather permits and by 8 weeks they have a sectioned off area in the run where they stay during the day. So...

Do you think the chicks can go outside fulltime??

So far doing well and have survived the downpour and extreme winds. I have temporarily put tarps over another section, so they do have place to go to other than the original covered area. They did get wet but seem to doing dealing with it well. I think this crew grow up a little tougher. Not...

Do you think the chicks can go outside fulltime??

The plunge has been taken. Poor things. It's pouring today and they got kicked out of the covered area but I put covered more areas with tarps. Normally the coop we have is perfect for our weather and has worked for 10 years. But this relentless rain is crazy!

Do you think the chicks can go outside fulltime??

Thank Gawd.... I think I just needed confirmation. Well this next week is going to be fun trying to acclimate them to coop life! Good point about the chicks with mama hen. When one of my girls had chicks they were out and about I. The cold on their second day of life.

Do you think the chicks can go outside fulltime??

yes i do. and they are there right now as we speak. I got them in january and I do not have a good set up for them when they are that young. we are looking into it but just haven't yet. Plus.... it has been raining a lot(for us) and it threw me into a loop.

Do you think the chicks can go outside fulltime??

I have 8 hens and now adding 8 chicks (the 10weekers). Unfortunately we don't have a set up like you do so they have been driving me crazy in the house. I have put them outside in a safe covered area when it isn't raining and the ground is muddy. My covered run is about 10 x 16 and the...

Do you think the chicks can go outside fulltime??

Stupid question - My chicks are about 10 weeks old. They appear fully feathered but I haven't put them out yet full time yet. Mostly because I live in California and it's been raining ... A LOT. I feel like if it wasn't so rainy I would have transitioned them out as I have done before but...
