Just took these. She's standing up at the moment and interested in my taking a picture of her.

    Lethargic-eating, drinking, pooping normal

My favorite chicken, Rhoda is once again not doing well. (2 y/o RIR) In May she got sick, (yellow diarrhea, letharic, was not egg bound, I thought it was egg yolk peritonitis, but she bounced back so it was probably worms?) She recovered from her last ordeal to basically back to normal. I don't...

Here's a picture of her from a few weeks ago. :love

    Lethargic chicken-not egg bound

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I figured she was doing better with the flock. I keep my eye on her and check on her regularly; she always comes out with the other girls to see me. I might do a panacur treatment just in case. Everywhere I saw said it's a good idea to do wazine first just in case the...

    Lethargic chicken-not egg bound

Adding another update: Rhoda (2 year old RIR) is still alive and doing ok. She's still slow moving, but she's eating and drinking just fine. I wormed everyone with wazine on Monday, just as a precaution. It doesn't look like she's had any more diarrhea and none of the other chickens seem to be...

    Lethargic chicken-not egg bound

Thank you so much for the reply! Rhoda is still hanging in there. She's seeming to be working up a bit. Her poop is much darker now, still very watery but she hasn't eaten much and it's mostly water. I started by hand feeding her electrolyte water and yesterday she started to get some water on...

Pic of the poo on the pillowcase. No smell at all.

    Lethargic chicken-not egg bound

I have a sick chicken. She is one of my favorites and I'm beside myself. She was fine yesterday. Today when I came home from work, I couldn't find her and she always greets me when I get home. (They free range in a fenced yard during the day and are locked up at night). After looking and looking...

    Loss of our Duck

Thank you. I also first thought fly strike, but there were no fully developed maggots, just dried white rice things. Not alive. Dried. My gut feeling is that it was egg yolk peritonitis and the clumps of dried white whatever is a red herring. Thank you so much for your insight! I really...

    Loss of our Duck

Today we lost our sweet little Khaki Campbell duck out of the blue. Last night she didn't feel well (everyone is free range during the day and then at sunset I make sure everyone goes into bed in the coop and lock it up). Earlier that day she was acting normally but when I came to put her to...

    Bantam...unsure of sex

Thank you! I was pretty sure cockerel but I was hoping so hard Pullet. Sigh.

    Bantam...unsure of sex

That's what I thought. Boo. I don't think I can keep another roo. My polish Pullet turned out to be a cockerel, too! Thank you!

    Bantam...unsure of sex

Please help in determining sex of this bamtam I got from a "mixed bag" box. Thank you. Also, I'm pretty sure she's (or he's) a blue laced Wyandotte but if you have any other ideas, please! Thank you so much in advance! PS submitting from my phone so hope there's no typos or autocorrects. :)

    Duck with broken thumb

Thank you! Yes, the halux. Her whole foot is starting to swell this evening so I was planning on soaking it within a ziplock bag (like you do with dog paws) in some Epsom salts but compresses are a great idea! And I'll put T-Relief ointment on it, too. Thank you so much!

    Duck with broken thumb

Tonight when I was putting my chickens and ducks away (they free range in the yard during the day and I put them away at night) my small Pekin duck was limping. I checked out her foot and there were no swellings or lacerations, and she was not bothered by my poking and prodding, but I realized...
