Hi all. Unfortunately we have to get rid of our 3 month old Jake. He’s a Spanish Black. Friendly towards humans but not my cattle dog and that’s a problem for the wife. I’m in Concord, Ca. He’s very healthy. We are keeping the female.
Male and female. 3 months. Getting big. They are really fun. Friendly and follow you everywhere. I actually enjoy them a bit more then the hens. Only draw back is they don’t go into the run and roost at night like the hens. We gotta put them away every night.
So far so good my 5 turkeys are doing great. I have two Buff Orpingtons in the run with them. The Turkeys are much friendlier and love to be held. They fly a lot. They are definitely going to be a handful when I let them out of the run into the back yard. I have 8 hens, so I'm going to wait...
Hi, I am looking to buy some poults to add to my flock of 8 hens. I am looking for 4-5. I am in Bay Area Northern Ca,. Never did the turkey thing before but have been successful with my hens for about 5 years or so. If you have some for sale please let me know.
Hi, I was interested in adding a few female turkeys to my flock of 8 hens. I have plenty of free range room. I reside in the East Bay of California. My main concern is that Black Head disease. Does anyone have any experience with raising these animals together in this area? Is this disease...
What age do you let the chicks free roam. Mine are about 9 weeks old and I let them out today in the backyard with the big hens. Neighborhood cats or hawks would be my main concern. I've never had a problem with the full grown hens with ant predators.
What are your best ways to deal with poopie butt. Got a few hens that look like they need cleaning. I sometimes cut out the clumps if it gets too big.
Also are there any preventative measures.
Thanks in advance
Hi all. I am new to the world of chickens. I spent about a year researching and making sure I knew what I was going to be getting into. I have two boys (10 & 12) who will be helping me, but as you know they have other things on their agendas during the weekend when it comes to chores...
