It seems like I have about 80% of my chicks looking like this. I know the pic is a little grainy, but they have a long pointy feather sticking out below their other tail feathers. Is the pointy tail feather indicative of a little cockerel?

I'm not sure if the chickens I am about to recieve have been fed medicated layer feed or not. I know they are older hens. Is it safe to butcher them after a certain time on different feed or should I just let them live out their old lives? Thanks
