    A Bielefelder Thread !

After two long years trying to get a fertilized egg out of my Bielefelders I'm now convinced there's a fertility problem with my one and only rooster. I've been watching him closely this year and haven't ever seen him even attempting to breed. I'm not having this issue out of any of my other...

    A Bielefelder Thread !

Have decided to get rid of my Bielefelders. 3 hens and 1 rooster. Local pickup or I can meet somewhere around the Cullman, AL or Hanceville, AL area. Email me if you're interested. [email protected]

    A Bielefelder Thread !

Assuming I EVER get fertilized Bielefelder eggs again - I have a few questions for those of you who HAVE successfully hatched. My experience: Back in January when I first started getting fertilized eggs, I loaded up my incubator with Bielefelder eggs along with a few Dominique and Black...

    A Bielefelder Thread !

All my chicken breeds eat the same thing. So I'm having a hard time thinking it's diet related. Everyone else is breeding like crazy and producing fertilized eggs. But I'm going to try to boost the Bielefelder's protein over the next few days and watch them this weekend to see if he's at least...

    A Bielefelder Thread !

"so I can't imagin that the Bielefelders show problems after only three years." Based on my own flock and inbreeding I can see your point. My Dominiques are 6 generations / years inbred (by me) and there are no appearance flaws or fertility issues.

    A Bielefelder Thread !

Thanks for the info! Did you ever get fertile eggs from your male? Is it even possible for a Rooster to be fertile his first month or so of breeding and then become infertile the next month - due to inbreeding? During the months of December and January I did witness the rooster mating - very...

Not molting. All hens and rooster are active and eating so none seem ill or under the weather. I agree it seems to be a problem with the rooster. I will attempt to watch them this weekend to see if he's even attempting to mate.

    A Bielefelder Thread !

Didn't change anything. If these 3 Bielefelder hens and 1 Bielefelder rooster were my ONLY chickens then I could see some random event possibly causing the problem. But ALL my other breeds are bringing in fertile eggs. Dominiques, Black Australorps and Buff Orpingtons are all fertile eggs. Every...

    A Bielefelder Thread !

Thanks for the reply! I've read that many times here but I have a hard time getting my head wrapped around how the 'fluff' could have increased enough to interfere in such a short period of time (4 weeks) but didn't interfere from early January through mid February. All eggs were fertilized from...

    A Bielefelder Thread !

Thanks for the input. My Dominiques, Black Australorps and Buff Orpingtons are all fine. Fertile eggs coming in every day. So unless the Bielefelders are more sensitive to weather changes than all my other breeds then I don't believe that's the problem. Haven't made any changes to the...

    A Bielefelder Thread !

I've been looking through this thread and the massive amount of posts for an answer but I can't find one. I have three Bielefelder hens and one rooster. Almost 11 months old. They started laying last December and eggs were fertile around January. I've been watching and checking fertility very...
