    Name that Bantam

Thanks! I'm no expert, but my best guess was all pullets as well. That would be great since these were the 'pet' chickens for the kids. I'd hate to have somebody give up their favorite. My 3 year old is in love with that OEGB.

    Name that Bantam

UPDATE! Have some new pics on these little chicks. Any more opinions now that they're a bit older? #3 the OEGB is getting some white spots. Would this be spangled/crele? Folks mentioned #2 was a Mille Fleur. I don't see any spotting, just black strips on the wings. Is #1 still looking like dark...

    Name that Bantam

thanks CascadiaRiver! I am really new to this. From browsing pics online I was guessing #1 might be a cochin of some sort, #2 brahma, and #3 OEG.

    Name that Bantam

Wondering if anyone could help identify these little guys. I'm fairly certain #3 is an OEG but any ideas on his coloring? Had a silver duckwing before but this guy seems to have a little more yellow to his coloring than my last one did. Thanks!

    Buff Orpington or Cornish Rock?

Here is one of each of the orp and cornish which we bought on 3/13. Your cornish should be noticeably bigger.

    Buff Orpington or Cornish Rock?

We got cornish rock as well and from the get go their feathers are all white. This one looks like my buff orpingtons.

Much ado about poo- Sick D'uccle?

Yes. We have the chicks all in our basement at the moment with heat lamps. I just brought them upstairs to a window to get better pictures of the stool. They seem to be enjoying a little sunlight.

Much ado about poo- Sick D'uccle?

I have 2 -1.5wk old bantam d'uccles. One started looking kinda run down about 3 days ago, looking sleepy, peeping, eyes closed alot. Thought it was just larger chicks running them over and beating them to food etc so I separated them to their own box. I came back a bit later and noticed one had...

Did I end up with silkie bantams? What are these?

Sorry to say 'he' didn't make it. :( The other chicks kept laying on him, pecking and just walking over him so I moved him to a separate spot. He got so weak that he wasn't standing/walking or bothering to eat or drink. I'm not 100% sure what the problem was.

Did I end up with silkie bantams? What are these?

That's what kept throwing me off. Mine just had the light feet with 4 toes. I googled chicks with feathered legs and nothing really looked right. D'uccle never came up, but now that I've googled them, the pics look right on. Curious to see how they turn out! Thank you everyone for chiming in!

Did I end up with silkie bantams? What are these?

Very cool! Thanks! I had a feeling they weren't really silkies but had no idea what they might be. I didn't know of any another breed that had the fuzzy feet.

Did I end up with silkie bantams? What are these?

Still new to the whole backyard chicken thing. We decided to add a few more to our group after we learned that about 2/3 of what we initially purchased were meat birds. TSC had a new shipment of pullets so we decided to go pick some up. While there, they also had a tub of Bantams. My kids were...

    Feed Store Chick Buying Guide

It was bonkers in that place! We got there and then all of a sudden like 10 other people showed up. I just blurted out to the guy that I was going to get 4 of each and he just started boxing them up. I'll make sure and remember for next time. Thanks again for the article! Very helpful.

    Feed Store Chick Buying Guide

It really would! I'm not even sure if the 4 orpingtons we got are female. One or two of them had what I'm guessing is pasty butt but we got them cleaned up when we got home. They are running around and seem to be fine. I'm going to do some more reading here and try to find somewhere I can grab...

Hello from the Wisconsin Driftless Area!

Hello BYC! Last year my husband and I left the rat race of Madison and bought a cabin on 5 acres in the middle of the Kickapoo Valley. I nagged my husband early on about doing backyard chickens once we got settled, and we decided to give it a go this year! I happened to visit Tractor Supply...

    Feed Store Chick Buying Guide

I wish I had found this a couple days ago! My husband and I have been talking about doing the backyard chicken thing for over a year now and happened to walk past the bins at TSC and said "Why not?". The only breed I recognized on the bins was the Buff Orpington (one of the breeds I had wanted...
