    My mother hen was wonderful for 5 1/2 weeks then yesterday it was like a light switched off and she is done with her babies. All normal stuff, ... but she is not just nudging them away or gently warning them, she is chasing them, pecking them and harassing them. Has anyone else experienced this...

    I'm sure this has been asked and answered a hundred times but I can't find it, ...I have six chicks the same age (5 weeks) and only one has a red comb. Do they mature at different times, or could I possibly have only one roo?

    I knew chickens took dust baths, but I didn't know they took mud baths. Is this common? She was soaked and filthy and it was pretty cold out. She went to bed still kindof wet. Crazy girl.

    I have a Frizzle and ordered more (eggs she hatched) from eBay. They are getting their wing feathers and four of them are turning up. I'm so excited. Frizzles are my favorite. :). So fun to pet.

    Wow, you can't buy an animal and not know what to expect when raising them. I realize this post is a few weeks old and I hope your babies lived but it is key to be informed before getting any life that is depending on you. :(

    I DO TOO! I'm so excited, I have been a nervous wreck, checking and checking. I have seven and two more have pipped... Out of 12. Hoping for the whole dozen. :)

    Thanks so much. I have stopped worrying so much. All seem to be doing fine. I have 5 pipping as we speak. :) So exciting. This incubator just had one hole that is always open and that is it. Must be enough. :)
