    Hackle and saddle feathers?

At what age do Roos develop their hackle and saddle feathers? The reason I ask is I have two white rocks that I got from TSC. One is for sure a pullet but I've gone back and forth with the other one. It has a much larger comb and wattles than the pullet but it doesn't have any hackle or saddle...

2 Week Old Chick - Red Swollen Vent - Help!?

The way they described it was all of the chicks could still see each other so the one didn't feel alone but was still...

2 Week Old Chick - Red Swollen Vent - Help!?

I'm a new mom as well so I feel your pain. One of my girls had a little booty problem too. Are you putting probiotics in their water? If not they sell it at Tractor Supply (if you have one where you live) for around $3 or you could try offering plain yogurt with live cultures in it. This helps...

    Insulating the coop?

Me and my husband are new to having chickens and we just started building our coop. We live in southern Georgia so we were wondering if we should/need to insulate our coop. It's going to be a 5x5 space with a metal roof and wood sides, if that makes any difference.
